How to Install a Cipa Clip On Towing Mirror on a 2020 Toyota RAV4

Connor: Hey guys, how's it going Connor here today at etrailer.com. We're going to be taking a look at the CIPA Universal Towing Mirrors here for our 2020 Toyota RAV4.So to show you some benefits here that our towing mirrors are going to offer when we're out on the road, if we need to change lanes, generally speaking, we're going to have a pretty large blind spot with our trailer here. We're not going to be able to see cars coming upon us when we do need to merge over. However, these towing mirrors are going to be the perfect solution for that because they're going to essentially get rid of the blind spot with our trailer here. As you can see, I'm stepping to the side of the trailer where I'm still visible all the way until we get back to our factory mirrors. So what I really like about these CIPA towing mirrors, as you can see, we have a very large mirror face here, seven and a half inches by five inches. So this is going to give us a very wide view of our trailer.

We're going to be able to see all our blind spots. We're not going to have to worry about merging and running into another vehicle. Now furthermore, there's quite a few adjustments with the ball and socket joint on our mirror face here. We can have this straight up and down in the position we have now, we can also turn this sideways as well. We can tilt it forward, backwards and side to side to get the best view of any particular trailer we may have.So as we can see here, we have our straps that are just going to be loosely installed around the outside of our factory mirror.

We're not going to have to worry about any damage or scratching our paint and we're going to retain all the factory features of our existing mirrors. Now just to demonstrate the folding feature, if we need to get into a tight parking space, we actually wouldn't even have to remove our towing mirrors here. It would simply sit on the factory mirror here and we'd still have plenty of clearance between the vehicle. So just touching back on the features of our existing mirror here, you can see we can easily just move our strap to the side so we could still have our puddle lamps to help us when we're getting in and out of the vehicle. So keep in mind our towing mirrors here are sold by themselves, we could also purchase a pair here through etrailer. To start our installation, we want to take our straps here, we want to loosen them so we have enough room to wrap it over the mirror housing here. So we want to do that for each one to give us some room to work.

And now we're going to roughly position the mirrors onto the factory side mirrors. We have two little hooks on both the top and bottom that are going to have to grab on the lip of our factory mirrors here. We're also going to want to roughly adjust the arms in the position that we want to contour the factory mirrors.Once we have that into position, we can come around back here. We're going to take the open end of our buckles here. We're going to come up top, wrap it around the factory mirror housing then hook up top to our clips here.

We have the rear one here as well. Once we have it nice and snug, we can go ahead and tighten our mirror to the factory housing by pulling on these ratchet straps here to get a tighter fit.So once we have our towing mirror attached to the vehicle's factory mirror, the final step is just going to be to adjust our side glass here to get the best field of view of our trailer. So now that we have our mirrors installed, we have our adjustments made, we're ready to hit the road with the confidence that we can see our trailer and merge safely between lanes.
