Today on our 2014 Chevrolet Cruise, we're going to be test fitting the 17 by 46 Curt Cargo Carrier for inch and a quarter and two inch hitches. It's made of steel with a 500 pound weight capacity. It's part number is C18145. To begin our test fit, we're going to slide the shank of the carrier into the receiver tube of our hitch. We'll line up our pin holes, thread in our anti-rattle bolt and tighten it down with a wrench. We can then secure it with the provided clip.
As you can see here at the rear of the carrier, we'll have about 7 3/4 inches worth of ground clearance. The closest part of our carrier to our rear bumper is about 2 inches away, and overall we've added about 21 1/2 inches to the length of the vehicle. The exhaust on the Cruise exits the driver's side and is turned downward. It's about 8 1/2 inches from our carrier. You'll want to keep this in mind when transporting any kind of heat sensitive materials. With our rack secure, we're going to take it out on our test course and let you see what it looks like in action.
We'll start with the slalom course, then the alternating bumps, then our solid bumps. With our rack secure, we're ready to load it with gear and head down the road. That will complete today's test fit of the 17 by 46 Curt Cargo Carrier, part number C18145 on our 2014 Chevrolet Cruise. .
