Review of the Curt Hitch Cargo Carrier on a 2019 GMC Acadia

Hey everyone, Charles here at etrailer. And today we're taking a look at the 24 by 60 Curt Cargo Carrier on a 2019 GMC Acadia. So this is gonna be great for freeing up space in your vehicle for more passengers, pets, or even more gear. A couple reasons why I prefer the hitch cargo carrier over a roof-mounted one is because it's gonna make loading and unloading those heavier bulkier items a lot easier. And it'll save room for the cargo racks to carry your kayaks and/or fishing pools as well. The interior dimensions are gonna be 24 by 60.

So plenty of room to carry, let's say, a scooter, lawn mower, you know, whatever you need. It's gonna have a weight capacity of 500 lbs. Just make sure you don't exceed that of the carrier, your tongue weight, or your vehicle. It's gonna be made out of steel. So it's gonna be very durable, lasts a long time.

And it's also finished with a black powder coat, making it corrosion resistant. And the mesh floor is gonna make it a lot easier to clean the dirt and debris and mud, whatever falls off your equipment. And all this open spacing on your rails, just has a lot of customization as far as your attachment points to secure your cargo carry down. When we have our hatch open, the clearance before making contact, it's gonna be about 18 inches. And a really cool thing about this carrier is that we can tilt it away if our belongings are protruding that.

And to do that, we'll just remove this pin and clip here. That way, we can tilt it down even further, getting more clearance. And let's say we are using this cargo carrier in between jobs or whatever we're using it for, we can fold this thing up to save even more room for when we're parking in our garage. To do that, we're gonna remove the pin and clip at the bottom here. And fold it up just like that.

And then, just make sure to reinsert the pin and clip. With it folded up, from the bumper to the furthest point of the rack, it's gonna be about 16-1/2 inches. And the closest point, it's gonna be about 6-1/2 inches. But nothing to worry about as it's not gonna get any closer than that. And with the carrier on the back of your vehicle you have some added length. So from the bumper to the furthest point of the carrier, right about 42 inches. Something to keep in mind when you're backing in a tight space. And the ground clearance, it's gonna be about 19 inches. And from the lowest point of the shank, about 15-1/4 inches. Just another thing to keep in mind when you're going down those steep hills or driveways. The front of your vehicle's gonna go up and the rear is gonna go down. Over here, we have our two inch shank that fits into our two inch hitch receiver. Comes with an anti-rattle bolt and pin. If you wanted a lock to secure this to your vehicle, you can get those here at etrailer. But the anti-rattle bolt's device, as you can see, as I'm shaking the whole carrier, the whole vehicle is moving and sharing its secure connection. Overall, this cargo carrier is a great way to transport your extra gear. I love how it folds away and tilts away as well. And you can free up space for extra rooftop accessories. If you needed something with some more area, check out the 32 by 48 Reese Solo Cargo Carrier. Other than that, this is a great choice. And that's gonna do it for our look on the 24 by 60 Curt Cargo Carrier on a 2019 GMC Acadia..
