How to Install the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness on a 2019 Chevrolet Blazer


Rob: Rob here at etrailer.com. And today we going to be taking a look at the CURT t-connector vehicle wiring harness for the factory tow package, on our 2019 Chevrolet Blazer. Now our CURT wiring harness is going to provide us with a four-pole flat trailer connector, so we can have all the required lights to get down the road safely. Like our tail lights, our turn signals and our brake lights. Our wiring is designed to stay on the outside of the vehicle at all times, which is kind of nice, because it'll be ready right by our hitch whenever we want to tow. But they are going to provide us with a dust cap so we can make sure it keeps all that dirt, debris and moisture out of the connectors.

But it's also going to help keep it off the ground and tie it to our hitch. So everything will be nice and neat, packaged behind this panel and ready for us.Now, our wiring's not only going to come in handy for trailers, but if you have cargo carriers that have those exterior lights or possibly even just a hitch step, it's going to be a lot easier to run wiring to those accessories using this harness rather than it is hard wire everything in, because then we're going to have to splice into our factory wiring. But with our harness, this is going to be one simple plug that's going to be behind our bumper here. It's fairly easy to get to once we have this panel removed and we're not going to have to cut or splice anything at all. But now that we've seen the end result of our wiring, let's show you how to get it installed.To begin our installation.

We want to come to the very back of our Blazer. Now at the bottom of the inaudible 00:01:21 here, this panel is actually going to be able to remove, so we just want to pull those two turn tabs, turn counter-clockwise, we're going to pull that panel down. If we look inside our panel, we'll find this four pin plug. It's going to have an actual plug covering it up, so you need to pull that out. Further up there's going to be a red tab, we want to push that to the outside of our car and then we'll squeeze the tab, which will allow the plug to come out.

Now with our new harness, you'll see that it's going to match the one that's on our Blazer. So we'll line it up, plug it in. We want to make sure we slide that red tab back in place. We hear an audible click, give it a quick tug, make sure it's locked down.Then we can just tuck all the excess wire back and I'm actually going to use a zip tie and tie it to my hitch, that way it's out of the way and we don't have to worry about it interfering or getting damaged by the muffler. We're going to slide our dust cover over the end of our four-pole connector.

And before I tie everything up and put my panel back in place, I'm going to hook up my four pole tester, that way I can check all the circuits and make sure they're all working properly. If I start running through my lights, we can see that my taillight function is working, as well as the left turn signal, the right turn signal and my brakes. All we have left to do now is hook up to our trailer and hit the road.
