How to Install the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness on a 2020 Chevrolet Blazer

Rob: Hey, everybody. Rob here at, and today we're going to be taking a look at the Curt T connector vehicle wiring harness for factory tow packages on our 2020 Chevrolet blazer. Now here's what our wiring's going to look like once we have it installed. It's going to provide us the four pole flat trailer connector, that way when we're towing a trailer with our blazer, we'll have all the lights that we need to get down the road safely and securely, like our tail lights, our stop lights and our turn signals. This is also going to provide us lights if we have any other kind of hitch mounted accessories like a cargo carrier that has external light kits or even a step, the wire is going to make it a lot easier to plug in rather than having to hard-wire any of those accessories. Now our wiring is designed to stay on the outside of the vehicle and they are going to provide us with a dust cap, which will keep all that dirt, debris and moisture out of the connector, hopefully preventing any kind of corrosion, but it's also going to help secure our four pole wiring to our hitch. That way, whenever we're not towing, it'll be right here ready for us when we need it.

But I do suggest that you pick up a mounting bracket so we can securely mount our four pole wiring to the hitch. That way it just gives it a little bit of a cleaner look and it's nice and secure. Now I know a big concern of a lot of people may be that when they're doing their wiring on their vehicle, they really don't want to mess with the electrical system because they can get a little sensitive. Well, I understand that, and our wiring here is not going to involve any kind of cutting or splicing at all. There's simply going to be a factory connector behind the bumper here that will just plug our wiring in and we're ready to go. In fact, let's go ahead and show you how to plug everything in, where the locations are and walk through everything together.

To begin our installation, we want to come to the back of our blazer and at the very center we're going to have this panel that's removable. If we come to the very bottom, there'll be two turn knobs. We're going to turn those counterclockwise and we're going to pull those out, let the panel come down a little bit, and we're going to pull down to release those clips. We're going to set this aside where it won't get damaged. Now if we look in the opening from that panel we just removed, when we look up towards the driver's side, we'll find this plug that's going to have four green little caps on it. It's actually a cap that's covering the plug we need to get access to.

There's a little red tab that's on the end here. We need to push it away from the plug, slide it towards the driver's side and we want to push it on the center tab so we can pull that plug out.So now we can grab our new harness and the harness is going to match the plug that's on our blazer. We'll line up the tabs and plug it in. We're going to make sure it locks in place so make sure you push it in, you should hear a slight click. It's not a bad idea to give it a quick tug, make sure it's fully seated and then you want to slide that red tab back to lock it in place.

Then we can take our dust cover and slide it over the end of the four pole and this'll give us a good way that we can put the excess and the connector down at the safety chain connection point and we can see how much wire we actually need. We can always take the zip ties that are in our kit and tie them up above the bumper either to the hitch or some existing wiring up top, that way it'll be out of the way, but our wiring will be real close to our hitch whenever we need to use it.So the final step of our installation is going to be testing our wiring. So I went ahead and plugged in my four pole tester and if you need one you can pick one up here at using part number I26. As you can see when I turn on my headlights, my taillight function is working, as well as the left turn signal, the right turn signal and my brakes.Again, I'm Rob here at, that'll finish up your look at the Curt T connector vehicle wiring harness for the factory tow package on our 2020 Chevrolet blazer.
