How to Install a Fifth Wheel and Gooseneck Wiring Harness on a 2015 GMC Sierra 2500

Today on our 2015 GMC Sierra 2500, we will be taking a look at and installing a Draw-Tite 5th Wheel Gooseneck Wiring Harness with 7-pole connector, part #20110. Now we're going to go ahead and test out our wiring since we've got everything hooked up. We're going to have our friend get in the truck, and run through everything. We'll 00:00:19 go ahead and plug it in. All right now that we got it plugged in, you can see that our clearance lights are on since the truck is running and it says daytime running lamps. Go ahead and test out our left turn signal.

We'll see that that's going to flash there on the left turn. Right turn signal, brake lights, go ahead and put the truck in reverse and you can see that our lights light up back here as well as the light here for the back up light. Now we'll go ahead and test out our brake. You can see our trailer brakes are working there. We've got both voltage and amperage so our wires are going to check out. All right, now here we're going to locate our position, where we're going to mount our 7-pole connector.

Now you can either mount it here or here on either side of the truck, instead 00:01:19 it would be easier to do it here on the driver's side since the connectors are going to be located right underneath here for that plug and play connection. We're going to go ahead and find our center location here on this portion here and go ahead and mark that. Right there, so we're just make a nice little dot there and then that's where we'll drill out a pilot hole. With our 2 inch hole saw, we'll go ahead and drill through. All right and take our 7 way connector and just test fit our hole to make sure everything fits nicely, it's going to look real good right there. Once you get down underneath the back end of your truck and look underneath the spare tire, some vehicles are going to be equipped with that 5th wheel wiring kit and some won't.

If yours is and you did decide to get that plug and play connector, all we're going to do is cut off this extra piece which is going to be that 5th wheel wiring from the factory, and disconnect it here for that plug and play adapter. We'll go ahead and pull it apart. To do so we'll slide the lock back, push in, and pull out. Now we'll go ahead and disconnect this one, and return it to the owner. We'll go ahead and take our connections, we'll put a little bit dielectric grease in there to help make sure that we maintain those connections over a long period of time. That dielectric grease is going to be part #11755.

Go ahead and slide in our T-connector, click it into place, and slide the lock forward. Do the same thing on the other side. Slide it in until it locks in place. Now we'll go ahead and run these wires over the top of the frame and out towards the fender well where we have that hole drilled. Run it up the side and stick it through the hole that we drilled in the side. Take some more of our dielectric grease, put it in our connection here, slide out the lock, so we ensure that we get it all the way in there. Then we'll slide that lock forward over the top and secure it in. Put it back in here, and then we'll secure it. Go ahead and take our self-tapping screws that are provided, make sure that we got our box nice and level and square. We'll go ahead and take those self-tapping screws that are provided and secure our 7-pole box. Now we'll go ahead and get underneath and secure up everything with the included zip ties. Go ahead and wrap these up, and secure them to the factory wire harness that's at the back. Go ahead and pull back our wire that we didn't use on that outside, and secure it up back here. That will do it for our review and installation of the Draw-Tite 5th Wheel Gooseneck Wiring Harness with 7-pole connector, part #20110 on our 2015 GMC Sierra 2500.
