Review of the etrailer Watersport Carriers on a 2019 Chevrolet Suburban

Hi, everyone, Adam, with Today, we're going to be taking a look at etrailer's brand of J style kayak carriers on our 2019 Chevrolet, suburban. So this is going to be a great way to get your kayaks to and from your destination and with the J style, it is going to be ideal for getting multiple different kayaks up on your roof. Yes, we probably could get two up here, even if we had the flat kayak carrier style, but with this J style, we might be able to even get three. I've seen a couple of customers carrying three, and it does look pretty cool. So as you can see, we do have our kayak nice and tied down.

We have our bow and stern tie down as well. And all these straps do come with the kit. So you don't have to worry about grabbing more.Everything is going to come with it. And that's always a plus. So a lot of positive features of this kayak carrier in my opinion, first, it's going to take care of your bars.

It's not going to scratch them up. You do have a nice rubber coating on your bracket, both on bottom and top. So you don't have to worry about your bars, getting all scratched up over time, this stuff is going to take care of that. It will also take care of your kayak. We do have a rubber insert here, and these foam bumpers are extremely thick, and they're not that plastic type, it's actually completely foam.

So these aren't going to crack within the weather. Another great feature in my opinion, is how these things fold flat. Yes, it's not completely flat, but whenever you're not using them, you don't really have to take them off.But if you really did have to take them off, it's a tool free install, and these are extremely light, they're made of aluminum, so they're going to last a very long time. So let's just go ahead and show you how to install it. So I already have one already in place, so let's just go ahead and do the other one together.

Just going to place it down. One thing I like to do is just lay down a microfiber whenever I have hardware on the roof. So it doesn't scratch it. This is a Griot's garage one, it's pretty thick. So it's not going to, it's definitely going to protect that roof. You put this little bracket down on this washer and then thread this on, just get it, thread it on maybe one or two threads. And then you can go ahead and put the other one on. Once you get it nice and tight, we can go ahead and get our kayak, but first let's adjust this, so they're even. Now we can go ahead and load up our kayak. So once you get your kayak up into place, you can start strapping it down. We do have all the necessary straps to get everything tied down properly. As you can see, we do utilize our bars here to get it nice and secure, and we actually looped it around the back too and hooked it on the actual J style carrier itself. For our bow in the front, what I did was we do have a little knob here. That's going to go inside your engine Bay. I actually just tucked it in behind this bracket. Once you get it in there, you can go ahead and close it. It's not going to hurt anything. And once it's there, you can just go ahead and tighten that down, it gives it that nice fit.And as you can see, if I'm tossing side to side there really isn't much movement at all. I mean, you're going to have a little bit of movement, but it's a lot of kayak up there. And honestly, it's very securely tied down. And then our stern on the back, we actually looped it up top by our handles, came back down and we hooked it on to our hitch. So that's going to be a very secure spot as well. And just so you guys know of how we did it on the back, we looped it around the top part of the U shaped aluminum carrier on the back, and then threw it back over the cap kayak and hooked it up and tied it down. Well, everyone, thanks for tuning in and taking a look at our J style carriers on our 2019 Chevrolet, suburban..
