Review of the etrailer RV Bumper Cargo Carrier on a 2016 Winnebago Spirit Motorhome

What's up everybody It's AJ with etrailer.com. Today we're gonna be checking out the etrailer RV Cargo Carrier on our 2016 Winnebago Spirit. This's gonna be a cargo carrier that connects to the bumper of your rig. We see it slid on the bumper right here. One thing right away I wanna point out, is make sure you check out your bumper weight capacity. This one's rated for 350 pounds.

The carrier itself is rated for 500 pounds, but you don't wanna overdo it on that bumper. It's gonna be made out of a black powder coat steel. It's very sturdy, so it's not one of those cargo carriers that has that mesh bottom, that, those hold up most of the time, but I think these bars just look stronger and I know if I was to throw a generator or something back here that couldn't put in one of the basement doors or I just didn't want that gasoline smell in there, I would know it would hold up to that. Inside the carrier we're gonna have 24 inches long by 40 inches wide. It's gonna give you plenty of space for that generator and some extra items here on the side.

I also like that the bar are all around the outside. Has the open design. You can even use the bottom of the carrier to run your ratchet strap through to tie down whatever you're puttin' on the cargo carrier. I mentioned that it attaches to the bumper. You can see this just slides over and goes right over the bumper.

We have two bolts at the bottom that are gonna hold in place, so you're gonna tighten those down. That's gonna keep the carrier from goin' anywhere. Now, before I show you how the cargo carrier folds up towards our rig here, let's see how much space it takes up, added to the bumper. So, work from the bumper, all the way out, to the edge, it's about 26 inches. So, you just wanna be aware that it's back here.

You can see it in your backup camera, but you just don't wanna accidentally back into anything. Another feature of the carrier is it can be folded up when it's not in use. So we come right here to this pin, and pop off the clip, pull the pin there. We'll do the same thing on the other side. We'll remove the pin, and fold it up, towards our rig. And then we'll put the pins back in. So they're gonna go on the inside. Slide it right through this bracket. We have to push it a little bit more, so it slides through, but it's not too bad. So I'm gonna keep in mind is, you wanna make sure you put it out of the way of the ladder, so you can fold it up. Sometimes you don't have an option on bumper. Sometimes it's got, some brackets that might be in the way that hold the bumper on, but we we're able to put it right here in the middle. Doesn't cause any issues, you can fold it up. You can see it's right there with the ladder and now there's less space added to the back of your rig. Where we put it on the bumper, I slid down over the bumper. You can see how the bracket goes on the outside. Now we did put towels on the inside, cuz it's a painted bumper. I didn't wanna scratch it. Overall, I do like this cargo carrier. It's easy to install. I like that it folds up and gets outta the way when you're not using it. If this isn't quite enough, you can also build on it. So, maybe you start here, you get more gear that you wanna carry outside of your rig. You can then get a bigger version where you add an add-on on to the middle and that makes it a little bit bigger. You can even add two of those to make it almost as wide as the bumper itself. But again, be careful with that weight rating on the bumper. Make sure you stay right where that is, so you don't damage that. Well, I think that does it. Thanks for hanging out and I hope this helped..
