How to Install the Hopkins Endurance Fifth Wheel Wiring Harness on a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado

Today, on our 2007 Chevrolet Silverado, new body style, we'll be installing the Hopkins Endurance, Fifth Wheel and gooseneck, 90 degree wiring harness with 7 pole plug. Part number 41157.We'll begin here underneath the rear of the vehicle as we locate the factory 7 way plug. We'll need to unplug this right here by simply pushing in on the tab on the side. Now we'll take our new Hopkins Endurance Fifth Wheel and gooseneck, 90 degree wiring harness, and you will see that there is 2 plugs on one end. This is where we will be tying in with our factory wiring harness. We'll use the dielectric grease supplied with the kit and install it on the female portion of the plugs.

Now that we have our grease in place, we'll go ahead and make our connections.Next we need to go ahead, up here in the bed and choose the area where we are going to mount our new 7 way plug. We'll need to drill a hole through the side of the bed, in order to run our wires up through. We'll be using a 2 and 1/8 hole saw bit to put the hole on the side of the bed. Now you want to make sure there's nothing behind where you will be drilling, that could be damaged by the drill bit.Now that we have our hole drilled into the side of the bed, we'll go ahead and route the wire up underneath the side of the bed and come out the hole that we just drilled. Now that we have our wire pulled up into the bed, we'll go ahead and put some more dielectric grease on this connection as well.

We'll then plug it in into the new 7 way, making sure that we hear the locking tabs lock into place. Now that we have this done, we'll push any excess wire back through the hole, and center up our new plug in the hole that we just drilled. We'll use the self-tapping screws with the washer to secure it to the side of the bed. Now that we have our plug, secure to the side of the bed, we'll go back underneath, and we'll bunch up any excess wire and use some zip ties to secure it off. Now, the white wire that you see here with the ring terminal on the end, this is the ground wire. We'll take a self-tapping screw and we'll secure this to the frame of the vehicle. Now we are ready to go ahead and test our new plug, as well as checking the old plug, to make sure that everything still working fine. We'll use our test box here, or have someone run through the light functions.

We start here in the bed at the new plug. As you can see here, the running lights work fine, the left turn, the right turn as well as the brakes and the brake controllers, you can see here by the gauge going up.Now we'll go ahead and plug into the original 7 way plug as well to make sure that's working OK too. Again we run through the running light, the left turn, the right turn, the brakes. Again here, you can see everything is working just fine. And with that, that will complete our installation of the Hopkins Endurance, Fifth Wheel Gooseneck, 90 degree wiring harness with 7 pole plug, part number 41157 on our 2007 Chevrolet Silverado, new body style. .
