Today, on this 2005 Chevrolet Silverado Crew Cab, this is a Hopkins Endurance 5th Wheel Gooseneck 90-Degree Wiring Harness. Were going to install part number 41157. This is actually relatively easy to install. First off, lets find a location where were going to install our 7-pole connector. In this case, it will be closer to the tailgate. Once we find our location, well go ahead and drill out a 1/4 pilot hole. After we drill out our pilot hole, well go ahead and enlarge it with a hole saw to a diameter of 2-1/8. Once we have our hole drilled out, well go ahead and install our wire harness.
Well take the T-connector side of our wire harness and put it in first, and let gravity pull it down towards the bottom. Now well go ahead and save our other end that will plug into our 7-pole connector. Well apply some dielectric grease to the socket that comes with the kit, then well go ahead and take our 7-pole connector and plug the two together. When we push them together, we should have a small click to let us know the locks engaged, then well go ahead and put it into the hole, and then secure it with the hardware provided. In this case, it will be self-tapping screws and flat washers. Im going to go underneath the truck, then well go ahead and disconnect the wiring harness from the 7-pole connector. Theres a small button that we have to push down, and we pull back and release the wire harness.
Well go ahead and route it up and over the frame, and into the existing 7-pole connector by the hitch. Well also use some more dielectric grease that comes with the kit to help coat our connections. Once again, well just snap them together, then well go ahead and pull out some more of our wire harness until we get down to our white wire. That will be your ground. We need to secure that to the cross member of the truck. To do this, well be using a separate sheet metal screw thats not included in the kit. This will be a number 14 size screw, and going to be self-tapping.
With all our wire connections made, well go ahead and take up our excess slack and zip tie it to make sure its safe and secure, and out of the way.
