How to Install the K Source Universal Clip-On Towing Mirror on a 2016 Jeep Compass

Today on our 2016 Jeep Compass we're going to be doing a test fit on the Ksource Universal Clip-On Towing Mirror, part number KS3891. It offers us a wide field of view. It's going to allow us to safely and easily change lanes, pass, park, or even back up while towing a trailer or camper. As you can see, I'm visible in the towing mirror, but not the factory mirror. If I take a few steps in towards my trailers you can see there's no blind spot by the way we have it set up. But this is the view you'd get with just your factory mirror. The mirror itself can be adjusted to most angles.

We've got our up and down, diagonal, and side to side. If we remove the Phillips head screw from behind the mirror, we can take it out and turn it to the horizontal position for a different view. Each one of the tabs and clips here are not going to interfere with the operation or movement of our factory mirror, and we can even still fold it in. Here on the backside it uses two ratchet straps to hold it in place around the factory mirror. The nice thing about them being ratchet is they're going to snug and grip that mirror a lot better than other straps. The padding on each one of the ratchet straps is nice and thick, and it's going to contour the back side of the mirror, that way it's going to hold it in place. The mirror does come in a quantity of one, so if you'd like to pick one up for the passenger's side just use the same part number.

Now I'll show you how easy it is to get installed. So I'm here on the driver's side of my Compass. To begin our test fit, let's go ahead and turn our mirror over. We need to make sure that each one of these tabs here is opened up enough, that way we can easily clip it around our housing. Once we've done that we can turn it back over. We want to make sure that it clips on the inside on the bottom, like that, and then on the top.

I've just kind of got it centered up with my mirror here. Now we can go around to the backside and run our straps. Now when we run our straps, this rubber padding here, we need to makes sure that it contours the back of the mirror, so we're going to put it on in this direction. We're just going to clip that top just like that and then come underneath and then hook it on bottom the exact same way. Once we've got it connected, we can come up to our cap and then ratchet it down. Once we get it nice and secure, we can close it up and repeat the same process with our other strap. When we're ready to release the tension, we've got this little button underneath our cap here.

We press in. We can guide that ratchet strap out. But for right now, let's go ahead and clip the top. I'm actually going to push in on it just a little bit more and then connect the bottom. Then I'm going to hold it in place while I ratchet it down, that way it stays where I want. Close up the cap. Put it into our keeper. And then we're ready to tow. It's that easy. And that's going to complete our test fit on the Ksource Universal Clip-On Towing Mirror, part number KS3891, on our 2016 Jeep Compass.
