How to Install the K Source Universal Clip-On Towing Mirror on a 2017 Jeep Cherokee

Today on our 2017 Jeep Cherokee, we're going to be doing a test fit on the K-source universal clip-on towing mirror. That's part number KS3891. It offers us a wide field of view. It's going to allow us to safely and easily change lanes, pass, park, or even back up while towing a trailer or camper. As you can see, I'm visible in the towing mirror, but not the factory mirror. Now, if I take a few steps in towards my trailer, as you can see, there's no blind spot, by the way we have it set up.

This is the view you get with just your factory mirror. The mirror itself can be adjusted to most angles. We've got our up and down, diagonal, and side-to-side. If we remove the Phillips head screw from the back, we can take the mirror out, turn it to the horizontal position for a different view. Each one of the four clips here is not going to interfere with the operation or movement of our factory mirror. We can even still fold it in. Here on the back side, it uses two ratchet straps to hold it in place around the mirror.

The nice thing about them being ratchet, is you're going to get that extra tight, snug fit. Another nice thing is, the rubber pads here, are going to help grip the backside of the mirror, reduce road shock, and vibration, and prevent any scratches. A few great things about this towing mirror, is that it's for temporary use, so if you do light duty towing, or a lot of towing, you can install it, or remove it fast and easy. Another great thing is, it's completely universal, so if you have any other trucks or SUVs in the family, it may work for those as well. Now, the mirror does come in a quantity of one, so if you'd like to pick one up for the passenger side, just use the same part number. Now, I'll show you how easy it is to get installed.

To begin our test fit, let's go ahead and turn our mirror over. We need to make sure that each one of these tabs here, is loosened up enough that we can easily fit it around our housing. Once they're all stretched out, go ahead and turn it back over. We can open up the arms, and set it in place. I'm just going to center it up to my mirror, here. Then I come around to the backside, and we're on the straps.

Now, when we run our straps, we want to make sure that the rubber pad, here, contours the back of the mirror. We're going to put it on in this direction, so we can just hook the top. Just like that. Then we'll come back up to our ratchet, here. We'll open up the cover. I'm going to start ratcheting it down. Make sure my pad fits into the right portion of the mirror here. Then we can just repeat the same process for the other strap. When you're all done towing, and you wish to release the tension on the towing mirror, underneath the cap, we've got a little button, here. By pushing that in, we can guide the strap out, and take it off. For right now, we'll just go ahead and hook it just the same. Do our ratchet, and start to ratchet it down. I'm just kind of holding it in place, making sure that the pad remains where I want it. We're all done. We're ready to tow. That's going to complete our test fit on the K-source universal clip-on towing mirror, part number KS3891, on our 2017 Jeep Cherokee.
