How to Install the K Source Universal Clip-On Towing Mirror on a 2017 Toyota Highlander

Today on our 2017 Toyota Highlander, we're going to be doing a test fit of the K Source universal clip on towing mirror, part number KS3891. It offers us a wide field of view. It's going to allow us to safely and easily change lanes, pass, park, or even back up while towing a trailer or camper. As you can see, I'm visible in my towing mirror but not the factory mirror. Now if I take a few steps in towards my trailer, as you can see there's no blind spot by the way we have it set up but this is the view you get with just your factory mirror. The mirror itself can be adjusted to most angles. We've got our up and down, diagonal, and side to side.

If we remove the Phillips head screw from the back, we can take the mirror out, turn it to the horizontal position for a different view. Each one of the tabs is not going to interfere with the operation or movement of our factory mirror and we can even still fold it in. Here on the back side it features two ratchet straps. They feature thick rubber pads, which are going to help grip the back side of your mirror and they won't harm the back side of your mirror. Here you can see that our straps do not cover up our side turn signal, we still have full use of it. A few great things about this towing mirror are for one it's for temporary use.

We can take it off when we're done towing. Another great thing is its universal. If you have any other trucks or SUVs in the household, it may work with those as well. Now the mirror comes in a quantity of one. If you like to pick one up for the passengers side, just the same part number.

Now I'll show you how easy it is to get installed. I'm here on the drivers side of my Highlander. To begin our test fit, I'm going to go ahead and turn my mirror over and point out a few things. Each one of our tabs here needs to be opened up, so we can easily clip it onto our housing. I'm going to flip it back over and set it in place. Now I'm just going to center it up with my mirror, make sure that the bottom clips on the inside as well as the top.

Then I'm going to hold it in place and run my straps on the back side. Now when we run our straps we want to make sure that the rubber pad here contours the back side of the mirror. We're going to put it on in this direction. We'll take the top portion of the strap, I'm going to hook it on top. Then we'll take the bottom portion and do the same thing. Then we can come up to our ratchet, we'll lift up our cover and begin ratcheting it down. Now I'm just going to guide my rubber pad up and make sure it seats where I want it to seat. Once it's nice and tight, I can close it up and run my next strap. Now when we're done towing and we wish to release the tension, underneath our cover we've got a little button here that allows us to guide that strap out. But for right now, let's go ahead and clip it on top and on bottom and then tighten it up and we're ready to tow. That's going to complete our test fit of the K Source universal clip on towing mirror, part number KS3891 on our 2017 Toyota Highlander.
