Review of the Glacier Cable Snow Tire Chains on a 2016 Ford F-150

Speaker 1: Today on our 2016 Ford F150 SuperCrew Cab, we're gonna be doing a test fit on the Glacier Cable Snow Tire Chains. That's part number PW2028C, and that's tire size 275-55-R20. These Glacier Cable Snow Tire Chains feature a ladder pattern, so they're gonna be very effective during accelerating and braking. They also feature steel rollers, which are gonna give us adequate traction on light snow and ice. And since they use steel rollers, they're gonna give us a much smoother ride than chains that have links. They meet Department of Transportation requirements in all states. They have a maximum speed rating of 30 miles per hour, and they come in a quantity of two.

Compared to other styles of chains, they won't give you as much traction, but they're easy to install and they're perfect for the occasional use. Now, I'm gonna show you how easy they are to install. To get started, we're gonna be putting tire chains on the rear tires of our F150 because it is rear wheel drive. To begin our test fit, it is a good idea to lay out the chain, and make sure there's no kinks, twists or tangles in it. We'll also wanna be sure that the hooks, the open side is facing up away from our tire, and that the eyelets are facing towards the front of our F150. Now, let's set them in place.

Just gonna lift them up in the center, and pull them over the tire. Now, we wanna make sure they're even on both sides, and the easy way to check that is to grab the cable in front, feel around to the back, and make sure it's about the same. Then we wanna connect the back side first. Here on the back side, what we wanna do is take our stoppers and our eyelet and connect them together. We don't wanna connect too many together though because then we won't be able to connect the front side evenly. So, for this tire, we wanna connect to that third stopper.

Now we can do the front. We wanna try to connect as many stoppers as we can this time. I know that we'll be able to get to that second one, which is gonna be just fine because we're within one from the back side, so we're pretty even.Once it's connected, we can take our lever, we're gonna fold it backward, and connect it to the cable just like that. As you can see, it's nice and tight. We can go ahead and repeat the same process with the tire on the other side.

Once you get both sides done, the manufacturer does recommend using a rubber adjuster, and what this is gonna do is it's gonna help keep that cable nice and snug around the tire when we're driving in the wintry conditions. It's very easy to install. You can pick up two with part number PW105. Be sure that the hook is facing away from the tire. We'll connect the top and we'll go directly across, and then we'll just work our way around. We can drive a short distance and stop, get out, and check to see if we need to make any adjustments. And that's gonna complete our test fit on the Glacier Cable Snow Tire Chains, part number PW2028C on our 2016 Ford F150 SuperCrew Cab.
