How to Install the Reese Elite Series Underbed Rail Adapter on a 2019 Ford F-350 Super Duty

Today in our 2019 Ford F-350 Super Duty you're going to be taking a look at, I'm sure you have it installed, the Reese Elite Series Under Bed Rail Adapter for standard fifth wheel trailer hitches, part number RP-30156.This is where our above bedrail kit looks like when it's installed. What is one of the reasons why we would need one of these Let's say we have an older truck. In our old truck we had an above bed rail kit and we had a fifth wheel hitch. However, we went out and bought a new truck and our new truck is equipped with an under bed kit. Rather than going out and spending that extra money on a new hitch to mount in our factory under bed kit, we can pick up this rail kit, mount it directly to that under bed kit and that gives us an above bed rail kit that's going to allow us to utilize our old fifth wheel hitch. This above bed rail kit will handle 15, 16, and even 20 thousand pound weight capacity fifth wheel hitches. Each wheel is going to have two slots on the end to help accommodate different sized fifth wheel hitches.Your handles are going to lock into place to keep your rails from disconnecting from your bed.

Another thing that's really nice about this above bed rail system, is when we don't need it or when we're done towing and we want to remove it, because it's utilizing the under bed puck system already installed in the vehicle, all we have to do is unlock it, lift that rail kit out and we can utilize full bed access. As far as finish goes, it's going to have a nice black powder coat finish that's going to resist any rust or corrosion. This is what our kit's going to look like when we get it. We're going to have four handles. You're going to have your anchor bushing, t-pin and jam nut. You're also going to have a couple of pin and clips here and then you're end caps that would go on the ends here. For demonstration purposes, I will not be installing these.

Once they go on, they are hard to get back off.I'll just go ahead and show you how to install your handles. We're going to take the anchor bushing and you're going to see . It's going to have two sides that are flat. We're going to slide it from the bottom up inside of that slot. We'll take our jam nut.

Go ahead and thread that on and what we want, is we don't want any movement. Once we thread this down, we don't want any play in that.I'm just taking a pair of channel locks here. We want to snug that nut, just like that. We're going to repeat that same thing on the other side. We'll take out t-pin, we're going to slide it up inside like that.

Take our handle and making sure that this slot is facing out. The nut is facing up.We're going to thread that into place, right into the bottom of our handle. You want to thread that in until you get metal to metal contact down here on the bottom side. What we're going to do is we're going to turn it the opposite way, or loosen it one and a half turns. We've got a half, one and a half. That gives us a little bit of play.If you notice the hole that's inside our t-pin, line it up with that slot and our handle. Take our clip here and pin. Slide it into place. That gives us plenty of room to allow us to move our t-pin and lock it in place when we set it into our bed.Once you have everything installed, go ahead and turn them. They should slide through the opening right on the outside here. Each side's going to come with a third lynch pin and that's to lock your handles in place once you have it installed in the back of your bed.First thing we need to do, is we need to remove the pucks in the four outer holes in the bed of our truck. Use a screwdriver. I have a little plastic trim panel tool. We're going to pop that cap off.Next thing you want to do, go ahead and pull out your lynch pin. You're going to fold your handles in like this. We're going to line these up and drop them right down through the holes into our under bed kit. Once you have them all in place, simple turn your handles in until that comes through to the outside. Line up your holes. Reinstall your lynch pin.Once you've got it locked into place, you can go head and install your fifth wheel and you're ready to go.That'll do it for a look at and installation on the Reese Elite Series Under Bed Rail Adapter for standard fifth wheel trailer hitches, part number RP-30156 on our 2019 Ford F-350 Super Duty.
