How to Install the Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit on a 2018 GMC Acadia

Speaker 1: Today on our 2018 GMC Acadia, we're going to be installing Roadmaster's Battery Charge Line Kit, part number RM-156-25.This charge line kit is going to keep the battery in your vehicle charged up as it's being pulled behind your motor home. What's great about this is no matter how far and long you travel, when you get to your destination you can unhook your vehicle and be sure that it's going to start up, so you can start your adventure. Circuit breaker included the kit is going to ensure that you don't overcharge your battery with too many amps at one time. If any shorts occur, it'll open up the circuit to prevent any damage to the vehicle or the wiring. To complete our flat tow setup on our 2018 GMC Acadia, we used Roadmaster's EZ5 Base Plate Kit, Roadmaster's Diode Wiring Kit, SMI Stay-IN-Play DUO Supplemental Braking System, Demco Dominator Tow Bar, Demco Tow Bar Adapter for Roadmaster Base Plates, and Roadmaster Base Plate Pins. We'll begin our installation by installing the circuit breaker that comes in our kit. We're going to install that right here behind this plastic covering. Go ahead and line up where we're going to place it.

Then we're going to use the self-tapping screw in the kit with an 8mm socket to run it into this bar. We'll then use the other self-tapping screw to run it into the other hole.We can now take the wiring that comes with the kit, and we can run it from our circuit breaker to our battery positive post. We're going to measure out a little extra length to make sure we've got enough to reach there. We'll cut our red wire and strip back both ends. Crimp on one of the small ring terminals from the kit to one end, and on the other end crimp on one of the large ring terminals.

We're going to hook the end to that goes to the battery to the silver post. So we'll unscrew the nut that's on there, place the small ring terminal on that post, and then reinstall the nut. Then tighten it down with a 3/8 socket.Your longer length of wire that you still have remaining is going to go from your circuit breaker down to your six-pole connector. We're going to run that now, so strip back both ends of this longer length of wire. If you have too much here, you can shorten it up a little bit, but based on the length we have to travel, we're going to need just about all of it.

A little bit of excess isn't going to hurt. Crimp on another one of these small ring terminals onto one end of the wire. We're going to route this wire over to our circuit breaker and put that small ring terminal on the copper post, and we'll tighten it down. Then route your red wire down to your six-pole connector. Now you can pull back on your rubber protector, slide your power wire through it, and we're going to be connecting this to the center post on our six-pole connector. Unscrew the set screw and we'll just poke our wire in and tighten it back down.

You can then use some dialectric grease to seal up your six-pole connector and prevent any moisture from entering it causing corrosion. Put our rubber sleeve back on. We'll just a little electrical tape to seal up each end of our connector. We'll now connect it to our battery. Flip up the protective cover, and you'll press in the release tab here and you'll press on a release tab under that cover as well, which allows you to lift it up. We'll be connecting our positive right here. We'll now remove the nut using a 13mm socket, slide our positive terminal around, set it up, and reinstall the nut. We can now close our cover and lock it down. That completes our installation of Roadmaster's Battery Charge Line Kit on our 2018 GMC Acadia.
