Hi there Jeep owners. Today, with your 2019 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install Roadmaster's Nighthawk Tow Bar. Your tow bar is one of five main components needed to flat tow your Jeep Wrangler. In addition to your tow bar, you're also going to need your base plate, which is the connection point on your vehicle side. You'll also need your diode wiring or magnetic wiring lights to provide all of your lighting signals to the people behind you when going down the road; your safety cables, which is a supplemental connection, in addition to your tow bar; as well as your supplemental braking system. This tow bar is going to be one of the highest quality tow bars out there.
It has a height weight rating of 8,000 pounds, which exceeds most of the other tow bars on the market. It features lights running down the side, which makes it easier for people to see you when driving at night. And it also adds to the look and aesthetic of it. It's a non-binding tow bar with extra large handles with rubber grips. This really makes it easy to get your tow bar disconnected if you happen to park on uneven terrain. When you're parked on uneven terrain, it can cause twisting motions and put it in a bind.
To get this arm released, you can pull on this lever here and that'll unlock it, allowing it to slide in and out just to give you enough motion to allow you to pull your pin and then get it disconnected. It includes the safety cables and your wiring. The channels located on the bottom, keep them up off the ground and give you an overall cleaner look. When you're not using your tow bar, you can put it in the storage position. It locks into place with the large bolt head here at the back into the lever here. You can pull on the lever to lower it down or lift it up and here and to click in.
Once it's clicked in, you'll want to choose a side, either the driver or passenger side, just push those arms off to one side because when you're driving down the road, if you leave them straight up, it's going to choose and it's going to fall over to one side anyway. Also included with your tow bar, you're going to receive safety cables as well as your umbilical cord. The umbilical cord comes pre-routed through it. Your safety cables may not. If they don't, one side of your safety cables is going to have a connection there, loosen that up...
And I recommend leaving the connection side on your motor home. So, we're going to run it down through our tow bar. And then we're just going to reconnect it. We're going to do that on the other side here as well. You can see it's got its own separate channel next to your wiring. When you are ready to use your tow bar, you can take your base plate attachments and they simply just slide in. You'll start with it up and down this way, push in and twist until it locks in. You want to make sure your stickers are at the top. So you've got the correct positioning for each arm. Your tow bar just slides into the hitch of your motor home. And it's secured using the included pin and clip. If you want a locking pin and clip, you can find those here at etrailer.com to protect your investment. We can now connect it to our base plate. When you're ready to tow, we'll drop our arm down. They separate, you can then take your arms and line up the center between the direct connect on your base plate. And then from the outside inside in, slide the included pins through and the smaller pins that are attached to those will lock it in place on the opposite side. We're going to do the same thing to the other side.We can now attach our safety cables. You want to make sure that you cross your safety cables. So, we're hooking up the passenger side arm cable to the driver's side on the motor home. And we'll put the other safety cable on the other side, over on our base plate. We'll just simply connect the cable to the safety chain connection point next to where our tow bar connects. We can then plug in our wiring. We're going to use the six pole end on our vehicle side and the seven pole connector on the motor home side. And lastly, you want to hook up your braking system's breakaway switch cable. That will just hook to your breakaway switch on one side and then to your hitch on the other side. And now with everything connected, we can place our Jeep into tow mode and we're ready to hit the road. And that completes our look at Roadmaster's Nighthawk Tow Bar on our 2019 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited..
