How to Install the SeaSucker Roof Rack on a 2017 GMC Acadia

Speaker 1: Today on our 2017 GMC Acadia, we're gonna be doing a test fit on the SeaSucker Monkey Bars roof rack system, part number 298-SX6000.The SeaSucker Monkey Bars are gonna allow you to carry roof mounted accessories on your GMC Acadia. Things like bike racks, cargo boxes, kayak carriers, and much more. They're unique in that they can be removed very easily when you're done using them. The round bars are held in place by six vacuum cups. Each vacuum cup has a 210 pound pull strength, so you can rest assured that your accessories are gonna be safe on the roof.Unlike other roof rack systems that use a clamp or a strap style, these will allow maximum adjustability. Now we'll give you some measurements. This is gonna give you an idea of how high they sit up from the roof of your GMC Acadia.

From the top of the roof to the underside of the bar is about 3.5 inches. From the top of the roof to the top of the bar is about four and seven eighths of an inch. Now that we've gone over some features, I'll go ahead and show you how to get it set up. Now, we've already got our front Monkey Bar in place. One thing to note is that the front one is always going to be the one with the double cups on each side. When placing it in your desired location, you want to be sure that it's even on both sides, side to side and front to back. It comes with everything you see on this table here.

We get one additional vacuum cup, should you need to replace one, and the tool to adjust it along the crossbar. That's one nice thing is that it is adjustable so we can fit it and make it work with multiple vehicles or set it in multiple locations on top of our roof.I've already got mine set. Let's go ahead and remove the protective covers. Now, you want to be sure and moisten the bottoms of the cups. I've just got a spray bottle here.

You'll also want to be sure that the roof of wherever you're placing it is clean of any dirt or debris. Also when placing it, you want to be sure to avoid any paint chips, any seams, dents, anything like that. I'm gonna take a measurement from center on center and make sure it's where I want it.Once we've got it set where we want, we can apply a little bit of pressure and begin depressing the pump cylinder until the orange band disappears. You want to do that for both sides. Now we're ready to load up our accessories and hit the road. That's gonna complete our test fit of the SeaSucker Monkey Bars roof rack system, part number 298-SX6000 on our 2017 GMC Acadia.
