How to Install a Trailer Brake Controller on a 1999 Ford F-350 Super Duty

Today in our 1999 Ford F350 Super Duty, well be installing the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Brake Controller with the direct fit wiring harness part number 90195 in conjunction with 3035-P. To begin our install, well first need to locate the manufacturers tow port. This will be underneath the kick panel below the steering wheel. Well go ahead and remove the four fasteners that secure the kick panel and then pull it down and out of the way. To remove the kick panel or knee bolster here, well just rotate the screw heads so that they pop out. .

On my 1999 f350 super duty, they placed the gray port on the wrong side of the divider, not on the fuse panel side, and it cannot be accessed without completely removing the dash and accessing the center panel. Your easy install turned into a nightmare for me and my solution is to take my sawsall and cut part of the frame holding the dash away to get my hand inside.

Sorry to hear this install went the way it did for you. Unfortunately, many installs can go different ways depending on what the vehicle side looks like.

@JacobH I ended up partially dismantling the dash and taking the center panel out. It worked, but I'm not a mechanic so had to find videos to show me everything. I'm a visual person and need to see it done and then can copy it. Your video did help some. It was when I saw my wiring different that I was unhappy and unsure how to proceed.
