How to Install the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness on a 2019 Chevrolet Blazer

Rob: Rob here at etrailer.com and today you're going to be taking a look at the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness for factory tow packages on our 2019 Chevrolet Blazer. Now here's what our wiring's going to look like once we have it installed. It is going to revise the four-pole flat trailer connector, so we can have all the lights we need to get down the road safely, like our taillights, our stoplights, and our turn signals. Our wiring is going to come with an included dust cap cover that we can use to help hold it up off the ground and use it, tie it directly to the safety chain connection point because our wiring is designed to stay on the outside of our Blazer at all times. But that's a nice thing because it will be ready for us whenever we hook up to tow. And even if you're not towing a trailer, if you have any other accessories at the back of your Blazer that has lights, our wiring is going to be able to provide us those signals, whether it's a cargo carrier that has those exterior lights on it, or even just a step, it's going to make it a lot easier to plug it in than hardwire everything. And since our wiring is designed for a factory tow package, we're not going to have to cut or splice any of our factory wires, it's just going to be one simple plug-in connection point right behind the bumper here. It's fairly easy to access once we remove this panel here.

In fact, let's go and do the installation together. To begin an installation, we want to come to the back of our Blazer and at the very center of the fascia, we're going to have this panel that's actually removable. When I twist the two turn knobs counter-clockwise, we can pull the panel down and we're going to set it aside somewhere where it won't get damaged. I'll be looking inside that panel where we just removed it from, we'll find this four pin plug that's going to be attached to the back of the bumper here. We're going to pull the plug out so we get access to the other side.

So you want to reach up, there's a little red tab on there, you need to push it away from the plug. That'll unlock it, and then we want to squeeze it so we can get the actual plug itself out.Now we're going to grab our new harness and we'll see that it's going to match the plug that we just removed. You want to reach up, plug it into the harness on our blazer, make sure it locks in place, then we'll slide that red tab back towards our wiring so it locks it in. It's not a bad idea to give it a quick tug, make sure it is locked in place. And we just want to take all of our excess wire and we're going to tie it to either this existing wiring here or the hitch, that way it won't be dragging the ground and we keep everything nice and neat behind this panel.

Just grab a few zip ties from the kit and we'll secure everything up.Now the final step of our installation is to be checking our wiring and making sure that all the circuits work properly. So I have my headlights on. We can see that my taillight function's working, as well as the left turn signal, the right turn signal, and my breaks. With all of our circuits working, all we have left to do now is hook up to our trailer and hit the road. But again, I'm Rob here at etrailer.com and that'll finish up your look at the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness for factory tow package on our 2019 Chevrolet Blazer..
