Today on our 2016 Toyota Rav4, we're going to be test fitting the Thule AeroBlade roof rack system, consisting of part numbers THARB53. These are the Thule AeroBlade Load Bars 53 inches long. They also come in black as part number THARB53B. We'll also be using part number TH450R and these are the Thule Rapid Crossroad Roof Mounted Foot Packs to fit on your raised side rails. The Thule AeroBlade roof rack system is great for carrying a wide variety of accessories on your roof, while freeing up space inside your vehicle. It can carry bike racks, cargo baskets, closed cargo boxes, as well as ski and snowboard carriers and kayak carriers. The two bars have a combined carrying capacity of 165 pound, although you always want to double check with your vehicle's manual to make sure it can withstand that weight. It does come with a rubber strip at the top and that coupled with the aerodynamic shape of the bar, will cut down wind noise and drag while you're driving.
It also means you can use T-Track accessories with this roof rack as well. Open up the end here with our end cap, remove the rubber strip and insert your T-Track accessory here and then cut your strip to length to go around the other side. Also, all of the foot packs come with this knock out here, which you can replace with the Thule lock core system which is sold separately, so you can secure it to your factory raised side rails. Now that we've gone over some of the features of the roof rack system, let's go ahead and show you how it installs. We have our rear bar partially assembled on our table. Our next step is we'll flip it upside down and we'll install our foot pack onto the other end of our aero blade bar. We'll take the top part of our foot pack here and slide into our T-slot.
Then we'll take our end cap, push that one and now we can load it onto our roof. When we set this on, we want to make sure our little arrow here is on top of the bar. Next we'll take our cross bar spread measurement, which is going to center of the bar to center of the bar. There's no specific measurement set for this. What I would do is take a look at whatever accessory you're going to be putting on your roof rack and go by it's recommendations. Everything measured up.
Wrap our strap on our bar. Then we'll take our included tool and tighten it down. As we tighten this down it's actually going to tighten it up around our aero blade bar as well. When everything is tightened down, we'll take our tool and push it in place like so. At this point if you had the Thule lock course, you would just knock out this plastic piece here and insert them in there. There you have it for our Thule AeroBlade roof rack system on our 2016 Toyota Rav4.
