How to Install the Thule AeroBlade Edge Roof Rack on a 2014 Toyota RAV4

Today on our 2014 Toyota Rav4 we're going to be test fitting the Thule AeroBlade Edge roof rack system, part number TH7502-TH7502. This also comes in black that's part number TH7502B-TH7502B. The Thule AeroBlade Edge roof rack is great for carrying a wide variety of accessories ranging from bike racks, cargo baskets, cargo boxes, ski carriers, and kayak carriers as well. The bars themselves have a nice aerodynamic shape for them and that coupled with the wind diffuser strips is actually going to cut down wind noise and drag while you're driving. Our end caps actually come off like so and they have this portion here which can be taken out and replaced with Thule lock core system. Once you install these, these can actually be completely secure to your roof rack. Also we have this T slot here which when you remove your wind diffuser strip, you can actually insert other accessories that fit into that slot instead of wrapping around your roof rack.

They wrap around the roof rack using this rubber coated steel strap and since there's no over hang with the cross bars, it has a nice factory style look to it. Both bars combined have a carrying capacity of 165 pounds although you always want to double check with your vehicles manual to make sure your roof can withstand that weight. Now that we've gone over some of the features of the roof rack let's go ahead and show you how it installs. We'll go ahead and install the rear bar here. We'll first remove the top covers. Then we'll install our rubber coated steel straps.

Now you notice on our straps here they have these slots and that they are all number. To determine which numbered slot you'll actually use for your roof rack you want to measure the diameter of your factory raised side rails and refer to the instructions. Once we've figured that out we'll go ahead and insert our strap and attach it to this point here where it'll be held in place. We'll do this on both sides. Now we can actually go ahead and set it on our roof. We'll go ahead and just set it in place for now.

We're going to go ahead and take measurements to get it in it's proper place. We'll slide our strap underneath our bar like so. Then set the bar on our cross rail. We'll do this on both sides. Now with our bar loosely put in place now we'll go ahead and measure center to center and determine our cross bars breadth.

That looks good. We'll repeat this for the other side. With that done now we can actually start tightening it down. It does come with a tightening tool. It does click once it's finished. Now right now we can go ahead and take these two notches that are at the top of our straps here and put them into the two notches on our actual bar. Now as I said this is a special tightening tool as this will actually click once it's tightened down enough. Therefore you're not going to over tighten it or under tighten it. Finally we can go ahead and install our end caps here and lock them into place if we can. Now we're ready to hit the road. There you have it for the Thule AeroBlade Edge roof rack system, part number TH7502-Th7502 on our 2014 Toyota Rav4.
