Review of the Thule Canyon XT Roof Cargo Basket on a 2018 Chrysler Pacifica

Speaker 1: Today, in our 2018 Chrysler Pacifica we're going to be test fitting the Thule Canyon XT Roof Basket, part number TH859XT. The Thule Canyon XT is great for carrying a wide variety of accessories on your roof. Now, if you have a minivan such as this one, you know that the more space you have the better. Here you can see we have luggage, we have a cooler, you can also have sporting goods equipment, anything you want to keep out from inside the minivan that could possibly make it dirty or just free up some space. While it doesn't come with the straps that you see here, it does provide plenty of tie down points for these straps to secure your loads to the cargo basket. These straps you can find on etrailer.com. With our hatch open, you can see you're not going to have any issues of clearance between the hatch and our cargo basket.

There is plenty of space to store accessories up here as it's 49" long by 40" wide by 6" tall at its tallest point. The basket also has an aerodynamic shape to it, and that, coupled with the fairing that does come installed with it as well, that's going to cut down the wind noise and drag while you drive to make a little bit of a quieter ride. This plastic piece here can be removed and replaced with a Thule Lock Core which is sold separately so you can secure this to your roof rack. This has a carrying capacity of 150 pounds, but always double check with your roof rack system as well as your vehicle specifications to make sure they can withstand those weights. Now that we've gone over some of the features of the basket, let's go ahead and show you how it installs. We have it installed for the most part on our vehicle here. We'll show you how the last clamp gets put into place.

We have to make sure that our plate here is set evenly over our bar. You can adjust it by loosening up the screws up at the top and moving it accordingly and then re-tightening them down. Also you want to make sure you have the proper clamp for your setup. This is going to be the shortest clamp that we have and since you can see our bars here are pretty slim, this is what we are going to go with. You have two other choices, if you have a different style roof rack on your Pacifica. So we'll slide them up underneath, making sure our washers are on the topside of our plate here, and then we can start tightening it down evenly on both sides. Now we'll grab our plastic cover, you'll see it has a tab on the end here, that's where this portion of the plastic tab will fit into like so.

Then we'll come to the other end and turn our plastic lock. Now that we have everything tightened down we can load up our gear and hit the road. And there you have it for the Thule Canyon XT Roof Cargo Basket on our 2018 Chrysler Pacifica.
