How to Install a Trailer Hitch on a 2010 Honda Odyssey

Today in our 2010 Honda Odyssey were going to be installing the Draw-Tite Hitch part number 75270. This is what our hitch is going to look like once its installed. Now here are a couple of measurements to assist you in selecting accessories for your new hitch. From the center of the hitch pinhole to outermost edge of the bumper is 5 inches. From the top of the receiver tube to the ground is eleven inches. This will assist you with selecting accessories such as a draw bar, a bike rack or a cargo carrier.

Now lets go ahead with the installation. First, before we can install our hitch, well need to go ahead and lower the exhaust. To do this, well remove the two rubber isolators securing the exhaust to the vehicle. To remove the rubber isolators, well spray each one of them with some spray lubricant. You see weve got one here attached to the frame of the tailpipe and another just behind the rear axle.

Now well go ahead and remove the rubber isolators. To remove the rubber isolators, it may be necessary to use a pry bar, a pair of pliers or in this case were using an exhaust hanger remover tool.First, well go ahead and point out are attachment points here on the driver side. We got a total of three attachment points on each side and all six attachment points will be weld nuts built into the frame by the manufacturer. Before we can install our hitch, were going to go ahead and clean out each one of these attachment points. To clean them out, well use a little spray lubricant and a -inch nylon tube brush part number 814092.Quick tech tip: I recommend taking one of your new 12mm bolts and go ahead and thread it into the weld nut to make sure they go nice and easily before you attempt to install the hitch. Now, keep in mind when youre putting your hitch in place, well be installing a 1 -inch x 2-inch blocks between the hitch in the frame.

That we have our attachment points cleaned out, were ready to go ahead and put our hitch in place. Well feed the passengers side up over the exhaust then well bring the driver side up into position; slide our block on top of the hitch and then secure it with our 12mm bolt and conical tooth washer with the teeth of the washer facing the hitch. With all of our fasteners secured on the driver side finger tight, well now move over to the passenger side and repeat the same process. Next, we can go ahead and tighten down all of our attachment points. Now we can go back and torque to specifications as indicated in the instructions.

Now will all our fasteners secured to specifications, well go back and reinstall the exhaust. With that done, thatll complete the installation of our Draw-Tite hitch part number 75270 on our 2010 Honda Odyssey.
