How to Install a Trailer Hitch on a 2013 Toyota Tundra

Today on our 2013 Toyota Tundra, we'll be installing the Draw-Tite Hitch, part number 75527. This iswhat our hitch will look like once its installed.Next we'll go ahead and give you a couple of measurements to assist you with selecting accessoriesfor your new hitch. From the center of the hitch pin hole to the outermost edge of the bumper is 1.From the top of the inside of the receiver tube opening to the ground is 18. This will assist you inselecting accessories such as a ball mount, bike rack, or cargo carrier. Now lets go ahead withinstallation.First we'll need to remove the angle brackets that are located on the inside of the frame rail near thebumper, on both sides. To remove the brackets, there are a total of four fasteners for each.

We'll goahead and remove them now two 12mm fasteners and two 14mm fasteners. Now we'll go aheadand set the brackets aside, as they will not be reinstalled. For our frame fasteners going into theweld nuts we'll use the new 12mm bolt and conical tooth washer. The teeth of the washer willface the hitch. For the two upper vertical mounts we'll be using the new 14mm bolts that go throughthe frame, through the hitch, and get secured with a large flat washer, split lock washer and nut. Then for our lower vertical attachment point, we'll be using the bolt and block and securing it onthe inside of the hitch with a conical tooth washer and nut.Now we're ready to put our hitch in place, its a good idea to get an extra set of hands to help holdthe hitch while you install the fasteners.

We'll start with the frame weld nuts and the 12mm bolt and conical tooth washer. We'll install each one of the fasteners finger-tight, until we get them allinstalled. Now with our frame weld nut fasteners in place we'll go ahead and install the 14mm bolts, securing it with a flat washer, split lock washer and nut on the inside. Then we'll take the bolt andblock, going through the frame, through the hitch, and securing with the conical tooth washer andnut. Now with all our hardware in place, we're ready to go ahead and tighten it down. We'll start with the 12mm bolts first; then we'll do the 14mm bolts; and finally our bolt andflange nut.

And now with everything tightened down, we'll go ahead and torque to specifications asindicated in the instructions. And with the hitch secured and torqued to specifications, thatllcomplete the install of our Draw-Tite Hitch, part number 75527 on our 2013 Toyota Tundra. .
