How to Install a Trailer Hitch on a 2018 Nissan Murano

Speaker 1: Today, on our 2018 Nissan Murano, you're gonna be taking a look at, I'm gonna show you how to install the Draw-Tite Max-Frame trailer hitch receiver; part number 75952.This is what our hitch looks like when it's installed. As you can see, the cross tube is visible, however, it's a round tube and it does have a little bit of a bend to it so it fits nicely with the contour of the vehicle. This hitch is gonna have a black powder coat finish, so, it's gonna resist any rust or corrosion. It's gonna be a class III hitch. It's gonna be two inch by two inch. You can see it has a nice reinforced collar to give you a little extra stability on your receiver tube. It's gonna have a plate style safety chain ring.

You can see the safety chain loops are very large. Gives you plenty of room for different size safety chain hooks. Gonna have a pre welded bracket on it for any of your wiring accessories you may want to add.Hitch pin hole is gonna be this most forward one here. It's gonna be 5/8ths inch in diameter. This hole here is gonna be for a J-Pin stabilization device only, and what that does, it takes all the shake and play out of any of your hitch mounted accessories.

To use one, you slide it in like that. It will have a large nut, put it on, and you'll have a key and a lock that comes with it. Now, the J-Pin does not come with your hitch, however, it can be found on our website. As far as a weight capacity for this hitch, you're gonna have a 600 pound max tongue weight which is the downward pressure on the inside of the receiver tube. You're gonna have a 4000 pound max trailer weight; which is the trailer plus the load included. Now, you can use weight distribution with this hitch.

Your weights are gonna stay the same, one thing I do recommend, check the owners manual of your Murano, make sure the vehicle can withstand that amount of weight. You're gonna wanna pick the lowest number between the vehicle and the hitch. As far as the installation goes with this, this is a very, very simple installation. You don't have to remove any panels. You simply set the hitch up there and put in the bolts. You're gonna have weld nuts already existing on the vehicle and it's gonna come with all the necessary hardware.

It literally will probably take you about 15 to 20 minutes to get this in.Now, let me give you a few measurements to help you when deciding on any hitch or mounting accessories you may need; such as a bike rack, ball mount, or cargo carrier. From the center of the hitch pinhole to the outer most part of the bumper will be about three and a half inches. From the ground to the top innermost part of the receiver tube will be about twelve and a half inches. Now, let's show you how to get this installed. First thing we need to do is take one of your hex bolts out of your kit that comes with your hitch and you're gonna have two mounting holes on your passenger side. What we're gonna do is we're gonna take one of our bolts and we're gonna thread it up inside the hole. You want to be able to thread that bolt by hand.If it gets stuck, at all, what you're gonna wanna do is spray some lubricant in there and take a nylon tube brush and clean off the threads. If you don't have one of those, you can find each on of those on our website. And you're just gonna repeat that for all the holes. On our driver side, we're gonna have three holes. We're gonna use these two here towards the front of our vehicle and this very furthest one back. Now's a good time to get an extra set of hands, have someone help lift the hitch into place, get one of your sets of hardware in one hole on each side; it will help hold it while you get the remaining hardware. What we're gonna be putting in is one of our hex bolts, kind of inaudible 00:03:22 so you want to make sure that the teeth are facing up toward the hitch. Now, we'll take an 18 millimeter socket, tighten all of our hardware now. Next, we want to torque all of our hardware to the specifications in the instructions. And repeat that for all remaining hardware. That'll do it for look at and installation on the draw tight class three max frame trailer hitch receiver, part number 75952 on our 2018 Nissan Murano.
