How to Install the Trailer Wiring Harness on a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Today, on our 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee, we're going to install the Curt T-connector vehicle wiring harness with 4-pole flat trailer connector. Part number C55515. To begin our install, we'll first locate the manufacturer's tow connector wiring harness. When we follow the manufacturer's wiring harness here, down the back of the vehicle, and to the back of the fascia, we can grab the round wiring connector and pull it free. Once we have access to it, we'll press on the connector lock and remove the weather pack plug that keeps it clean and free of dirt, dust, debris, and moisture. Once we have it removed, we'll go ahead and take our new harness, match it up with the manufacturer's, and install the new connector. Note, I do recommend to use some of the Edelmann Dielectric Grease on the connector. Part number 11755.

It will assist in preventing any moisture or corrosion to build up between the connection points. Now we'll go ahead and install the new connectors into the manufacturer's plug. Make sure it is locked into position, then route the wiring harness, as needed, to the hitch. Now, with the wire routed, we'll need to secure the remaining portion of our wiring. We'll be using some black zip ties. I'll go ahead and bundle the wire up and secure it.

First, I'm going to go ahead to secure it to the chain hold down of our hitch. Then we'll secure the remaining portion of our wiring here to the back of the body of the vehicle. Put one more on it. Keep everything together. High and out of the way. Now, once I have gone ahead and secured the wiring as necessary, I'm just going to cut off the excess from the zip ties to clean up the install look. With that, our install is complete, and we're ready to hit the road. That does it for the install of the Curt T-connector vehicle wiring harness with the 4-pole flat trailer connector.

Part number C55515. On our 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. .

I was told by the dealer that you have to have the dealer Tech turn on the software to make the plug work. Cost $50.00

Yes, we have had other customers provide feedback that they needed the dealership to flash the computer on the Grand Cherokee.
