How to Install the Tekonsha T-One Trailer Wiring Harness on a 2015 Chevrolet Traverse

Ryan: Hey, everybody, Ryan here at etrailer.com. Today on our 2015 Chevrolet Traverse, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness. Now, what sets this one apart from many of the others is the fact that it's plug and play. We're going to have our four-pole end on this side, and the other side is going to have a connector that'll plug directly into our factory tow package, as opposed to having to tap into our Traverse's tail lights and have to run a power wire all the way out front to the battery. It's going to provide us with all of the necessary lighting functions to not only remain safe but legal. And other motorists on the road will appreciate the fact that your lights work, and they're going to know your intentions as you're pulling your trailer. We're going to have a thick rubber dust cap that's not only going to help our terminals clean, but it also serves as a hanger. That way we could store our wiring outside on our hitch.

Now, this isn't the only way to store it. There are multiple brackets available that you could use to mount our four-pole, depending on which hitch you have. Now, one of the things I really like about this wiring is how easy it is to install. So let's go ahead and do it together now.To begin our installation, we're going to be working underneath the passenger side of our Traverse. Now, if we reach our hand up in this opening between our frame and our rear bumper, up a little ways we're going to have a plug, and that's what we're going to be working with.

That's what our wiring is going to plug into. Before we plug our new harness in, what I like to do is take some dialectric grease and kind of just smear that over our terminals. What this will do, this will help protect it from any rust or corrosion and keep everything in good shape. Once we have that done, we can reach up and plug the two together. Now, I went ahead and routed my wiring over to the center of our hitch. What I did was I kind of just pushed it up between our bumper beam and that support, along the way just secured it with some zip ties, and over here to our hitch. Now, here underneath the hood, we're going to have to install a few fuses to get our trailer wiring to work.

Over here on the passenger side is our fuse box. To take the lid off, we're going to have a tab, three of them, and we'll have to push in and lift off our lid. We're going to start with installing our four 10-amp fuses. We're going to put one here in F8. We're going to put one in here F17 and F21.

We're going to have one more right here, and that'll be in slot F41. Now we're going to have two 30-amp fuses that we're going to need to put in this slot here, which is F30, as well as this one, which is F34. Finally, we're going to have two relays to put in, and we're going to be putting those in these slots here, which are our 15 and our 16. Once all those are in place, can then take our cover and pop that back on.Now with everything hooked up, we're going to check our lights to make sure they're working properly. I'll try my left turn, my right turn, my brake lights, and my running lights. That'll do it for our look at and our installation of our Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness on our 2015 Chevrolet Traverse.
