How to Install a Trailer Wiring Harness on a 2015 Honda Odyssey

Today on our 2015 Honda Odyssey, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Tekonsha T-1 Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4 Pole Flat Trailer Connector, part number 118521. Here's what it looks like once it's installed. When you want to use it, simply take it out of the rear cargo area. Be mindful to stay away from the latch, as pinching the wire off in the latch cam harm it. We'll simply close the rear cargo door on it, and then pull out the necessary wire to run down to our hitch or accessory. Then when you're not in use, you can just roll it up and store it inside. This is what you're going to get in your kit.

You're going to get your 4 pole flat trailer connector, your module box, couple of zip ties, and a couple of fuses. First thing we'll want to do when we start our installation is we're going to lower this seat. What we're doing is we're wanting to gain access to this panel right here. Just going to take a small flathead screwdriver and pop this panel off. Next thing we're going to do is we're going to remove the cargo net hook.

These could be kind of tight on there, so if you have to use a pair of pliers or something to get it off, I'd make sure I'd cover it first. Maybe take a rag or something and wrap it on there. Then you're just going to unscrew it off, it's just threaded on there. Next thing you're going to do is you're going to remove this sill 00:01:18 plate here. Now, you're going to have a couple more cargo net hooks right back here. You're going to have one on this side and you're going to have one on the other side.

Now, to remove this wherever you can get a hold of it you're just going to simply pop it up. Next thing we're going to do is we're going to take this panel, we're just going to ideally 00:01:41 pull it out just a little bit. Next, we're going to take the end with our wire loom on it, or the two white ends here, and we're going to run it back behind up to that fuse panel. Now, you're going to have two plugs with this wiring harness. If you have a preexisting or a tow package that's put in with the vehicle when you purchased the vehicle, you're going to use both plugs. If not, you're just going to use the one that's going to plug into the fuse panel.

If it had one, you would unplug the one from the fuse panel, plug it in one side, and then plug the other end into the fuse panel. This vehicle is not equipped with that. We're just going to take the one end, we're going to plug it into place. Next, we're going to connect our modular box to the gray end on our wiring harness here. First thing I'm going to do is I'm going to peel off this sticky tape covering here. We'll go ahead and connect it. Go ahead and push it on there. Next thing we have is our ground. Now with a 10 millimeter socket we're going to remove this bolt here. Then we'll just put it back in. The wire that goes to your 4 pole flat, I think I'm going to zip tie it right there. Now that we have our wire in place here, we'll go ahead and start putting our panel back in place. Next thing we're going to do is we're going to install our fuses. Your 10 amp fuse is going to go in position number eight, which is going to be this one here on the end. Our 7.5 fuses are going to go in number two and number 11. Number two is going to be this position here. Then our last 7.5 is going to go in position number 11, which is going to be this bottom rom, in the middle. Once you have your fuses in place you can go ahead, reinstall your panel. Next, we'll go ahead and reinstall our rear panel here. Now that we have everything hooked up, we'll go ahead and test it out using part number I26. Left blinker, right blinker, brakes, running lights. That will do it for the Tekonsha T-1 Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4 Pole Flat Trailer Connector, part number 118521 on our 2015 Honda Odyssey.
