How to Install a Trailer Wiring Harness on a 2015 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited

Today on our 2015 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited we'll be taking a look at and installing the Curt-T connector vehicle wiring harness with 4-pole flat trailer connector, part number C55124. First thing we're going to do on our installation of our wiring harness is go ahead and remove the driver's side rear taillight assembly. To do so there's going to be two Phillip's screws here on the inside that we're going to remove. You can leave the outward ones installed, since those are securing the cover to the light assembly here. Once you have those two removed we'll be able to pop the taillight assembly right out, just like so. Then we'll disconnect the wiring harness, press down on the tab on the bottom and pull out. Once we have it disconnected we'll go ahead and set the taillight off to the side, and bring in our wiring harness. We're going to simply plug in the same kind of connector to our factory harness.

This side will get plugged back into our taillight assembly, and then we're going to mount our ground wire to the inside if we can, or down below. It might make it easier to mount it down below where we can attach it to the frame. In order to do so we're going to go ahead and peal back some of our warning labels, and stickers here on the side, so we can separate our white wire. Go ahead and pass your 4-pole wire through the hole in the foam at the bottom, and drag it out. You can see that here, just pulling straight down.

Go ahead and plug in our connector, just like so. Rotate the taillight assembly back to where it needs to go and into position. Now we'll take our screws and secure our taillight back in place. Now that we have our wires down we'll be able to route them around. We're going to route them over the top of the bumper, keeping them away from the exhaust as much as possible. Now we'll go ahead and take our self-tapping screw that's included, and screw it into the bottom side of that body panel and sheet metal, right below where we pulled it out at the top of the fender well.

Once we have it through we'll back it out, place in our white wire in the little ring terminal. With that secure we'll take a little bit of wire loom and clean up our installation. The wire loom can be found on our website, part number 459075-1. Keep in mind that the wire loom is going to be sold by the foot. We're going to place it over our wire here, and then send our wire loom back through our hole, and up to our attachment point where we came through the body. This will insure it goes all the way through to the frame, and we don't need to fuss around with it when it's already connected.

Once we have it all the way through, we'll go ahead and put a little bit of tape around it just to make sure that it stays together, and doesn't peel apart. You can see our wire loom coming back around, and it should be going up and into our hole. Now we'll go ahead and attach our zip tie to the backside of our bumper bracket, and cross member on the back side, this is to keep it in place. With that nice and tight we'll then route our wires over a little bit more towards the center. Now that we have our 4-pole down behind our receiver we'll place on our end cap. Simply slide it on over the little ribs, and place the cover over the top. This will help keep any kind of dirt, debris, and corrosion out of there until you're ready to use it. Now we're going to go ahead and test out our lights. We'll remove our cover, we'll take our negative side or ground, and then we'll hook it up. We'll test out our taillights, the brown wire located there, and that's good. Now let's go ahead and test out our left turn signal, our right turn signal, it's going to be that green wire, and then our brake lights, which is going to be the green and the yellow combined. That'll do it for our review and installation of the Curt-T connector vehicle wiring harness with 4-pole flat trailer connector, part number C55124, on our 2014 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited.
