How to Install a Tekonsha T-OneTrailer Wiring Harness on a 2017 GMC Acadia

Today, on our 2017 GMC Acadia, we're going to be taking a look at and I'm going to show you how to install the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector. This is what our wiring's going to look like when it's installed. This is going to give you all the proper lighting functions to safely tow a trailer. Both turn signals, your running lights, and your brake lights. It's also going to come with an attached dust cap that's going to help protect your connections from any dirt and debris. This wiring is compatible with 5-, 6-, and 7-pole adapters, which can be found here at etrailer.com.As far as the installation, it's very simple.

You're going to have one plug, and it's located here on your passenger side towards the back of the vehicle, right behind the inaudible 00:00:37. First thing we're going to do before we install our wire is I want to take some dielectric grease and I'm going to put it right inside on our connections. This is going to help keep any moisture off of them. If you don't have dielectric grease, you can find it here at etrailer.com. And our plug that we're going to be connecting to on the vehicle is going to be located on our passenger side behind the rear tire, up right inside the fender.

So, if you look right here. Right inside the quarter panel. Look right there. We're just going to line everything up together. This large side you're going to see is going to go through the outside here.

Push it together until you hear it click. We're going to take our 4-pole wire, we're going to route it to the back and the across to the back side of our hitch. Make sure . Your exhaust pipe's over here. You want to make sure you go overtop of your hitch. Try to stay as far away from your exhaust as possible.

What we're going to do is to pull this tight. I'm going to throw on a zip tie on my wire right there. That'll keep it nice and tight up against the bottom body part of the vehicle. To help us get our wiring installed to give it a more permanent mounting location on our hitch, we're going to be using two brackets. One's going to be our short no-drill mounting bracket and our 4-pole bracket, which is going to mount to our short bracket. You're going to take your 4-pole bracket. Go ahead and use the included screws and nuts. Mount it onto your short bracket. These two brackets do not come with your hitch, if I didn't mention that. You do have to purchase these separate, but they can be found here at etrailer.com.Once you get them together, you're going to have a hose clamp. Take your wire and make this a much cleaner look. Come overtop of your hitch like this. Go ahead and feed it through your bracket. Go ahead and mount it onto your 4-pole bracket. Just push this on. We're going to take this and we'll tighten it into place. We'll cut off our excess. The kit's going to come with some zip ties. It's a good idea to go ahead and zip tie your wiring up on the backside of your hitch, just to help hold it in place. Now what we're going to do is your kit's going to come with some fuses. We're going to go up underneath the hood and get those fuses installed. Your fuse panel's going to be located under the hood on your passenger side. Now, your kit's going to come with the fuses and relays to put them in the proper locations. Our vehicle already has them in, so we're not going to have to put them in. If you vehicle does not have them in, you just want to make sure you follow the instructions on which positions to put them in.Then we'll test out our wiring using part number I26. Left turn, right turn, brake lights, running lights. That'll do it for our look at an installation on the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness for 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector on our 2017 GMC Acadia.
