How to Install the Trailer Wiring Harness on a 2018 Dodge Durango

Speaker 1: Today on this 2018 Dodge Durango, we'll be having a look at, and showing you how to install, the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness for factory tow package vehicles, with a 4-pole flat trailer connector, part number C55515.Here's what our wiring harness looks like installed. As you can see, we can easily secure it to our hitch using the dust cover to prevent it from dragging on the ground. Now, this wiring harness will allow you to safely and legally tow a trailer by having the required lights as needed by law. We'll have our right turn signal and right brake light off of this green wire, left turn signal and left brake light off the yellow wire, tail lights and running lights off the brown wire, and the necessary ground connection between our trailer and our Durango will be provided by this white wire.Now, many of our customers have said they really like how easy this was to install because it simply plugs right in to their factory tow package, and many have also stated that they've had it on their vehicle for several years, and they haven't encountered any problems with it. What I like about this wiring harness is that we have a very heavy-duty dust cover built into it, and it has a tether so you don't have to worry about losing the dust cap when you have it open. You can also use this to secure it around your hitch when it's not in use.

Now that we've gone over some features, we'll show you how to get it installed.To begin the install, we'll need to first locate our factory tow package connector. It is located behind our fascia, right in this general area right here. Another factory tow package connector is this item right here. It has a protective plug in it. We'll need to remove this protective plug.

We'll do that by pressing down on this black tab here and pulling out on the plug. Now, it's a good idea to take some dielectric grease and go inside the connector just to help better protect it from the elements and any moisture that may occur. We'll now take our Curt Harness, and we'll plug it into the factory connector, and we'll push until it locks in place.We secured up our excess wiring through the factory wiring harness using the provided zip ties, and we secure the end of our wiring harness of the 4-pole connector to our safety chain loop on our hitch using the built-in dust cover.Now that we have our wiring installed, we will need to make a trip to our local dealership to have the computer reflashed in the vehicle so that the factory tow package is enabled.
