How to Install the Bargman Fifth Wheel and Gooseneck Wiring Harness on a 2018 Ford F-250 Super Duty

Speaker 1: Today on our 2018 Ford F250, we're going to take a look at and show you how to install the Bargman 5th Wheel to Gooseneck 90 Degree Wiring Harness with the seven way RV designed for use with the aluminum truck beds. Part number is 50-97-410-010.Now this connector allows us to connect gooseneck, fifth wheel, or in-bed camper wiring at a convenient source inside the bed of the truck so we don't have it hanging over plugged into the back where it might fall out and drag the road. It's going to be just like any other seven pole connector with the tab right here. As we slide our plug in, that's going to come down behind it. Making sure we've got a good fit, we won't have to worry about it coming out. With the stainless steel screws, it is designed for use in the aluminum bed.

We won't have corrosion issues to deal with. And something to help keep corrosion to a minimum, it's hard to see, but all the way around the cover in here we have a rubber gasket. That presses right down on this lip.Now to begin the installation, we need to choose the area we want our connector to be located inside the bed of the truck. I like to use this as just kind of a guide. It's going to be about the size of that connector, so you can kind of move it where you want it.

I'm going to do it about right there. Just going to mark the center of that, going to be where we'll do our hole. We'll need to use a hole saw, and we want to create a two-inch hole there. Now as we drill this out, we need to just go through this side of the bed. If you're putting too much force on it and this goes all the way through, you'll wind up with a dent on the outside of the bed, which we really don't want. Now we're going to take a little clear just to touch that area up, make sure we don't have any corrosion issues. Now we're ready to take our factory-style connectors here.

Just going to feed those through our hole. It's a kind of a tight squeeze, so just kind of angle it as you go through there. Then as we go through, you want that to angle downward. Want to just feed our length of wire through, that's just going to come out below the truck bed there. Now if you have an in-bed camper with the nine foot length, that will allow you to move it further up, too.

So if you have one of the connections in the front, you'll still be able to use it.Now to secure it, we're going to use our self-tapping screws. That's going to help out with that aluminum, so we won't have any issues there. Just make sure you have it level as you start putting those in. Now we'll take our two ends. I like to go up over top of the frame rail, over top of our spare tire cross member there. And we'll bring our end over. Now right here, this is where your license plate is. We're going to be just to the driver's side of that. We've got our plug here. Going to push this tab in. You can wiggle that to get it separated, 'cause you can see that's going to look just like the connector we're plugging in.We want to use some dielectric grease on each of our connections here. We're going to use part number 11755, if you don't already have some. Just go around and get some on each of those contacts. We're going to do that on our factory plug and on our new plug. Then we'll plug our new harness into our factory plug like that, and then our new harness where we removed the factory plug right up here. Just pull on it, make sure both of them are connected properly. Then any excess wire we have here, we're just going to zip tie up and out of the way.All right, now let's get everything tested out. We'll start by turning on our running lights, your left blinker, our right blinker, our brakes. If equipped with a brake controller, you can operate that. Then we also have our reverse lights. That's going to complete our installation of the Bargman 5th Wheel to Gooseneck 90 Degree Wiring Harness with the seven way RV plug.
