How to Install a Fifth Wheel and Gooseneck Wiring Harness on a 2013 Chevrolet Silverado

Today on this 2013 Chevrolet Silverado we're going to install part number PK11893-11932. Our first step is to go ahead and install the wires to the socket that will eventually go into the back of the seven pole connector. We'll go ahead and install the wires as follows according to the instructions. Our wires just push into place and the individual sockets are labeled, so number one will get the red wire, number two will get the white wire, number three will get the blue wire, and four will get the green wire. We're going to skip to number seven, the yellow wire, and put that in the number seven socket, that way we'll have room. Five will have the black wire and socket six will have the brown wire.

When we install these wires we need to push them down until they click into place. Now with all the wires pushed into place, we'll turn around and install the blue lock that goes into the center of the other side. We'll line it up and push it down into place until it clicks. We're done with the wiring of the socket. Next we'll go ahead and locate a place four our seven pole connector.

In this case we're going to install it in the bed behind the wheel well, above one of the tie-down loops. We're going to use a hole saw to make our hole. We'll take our hole saw and hold it up to our seven pole connector to verify we have a big enough hole to install it. We'll drill a pilot hole and then we'll use our hole saw to make our final hole size. With the hole drilled out we'll go ahead and take our wire harness and push it through the hole.

A grade lock is preinstalled on the connector, so we have to remove it before we can put the two together. We'll take our seven pole connector and install it to the socket. We'll push them together and then install the grade lock. We'll go ahead and push the seven pole connector up against the bed, and we'll use some sheet metal screws to attach it. The sheet metal screws do not come with the seven pole connector.

We're done inside the bed. We'll go ahead and go underneath the vehicle and route our wiring. We're going to run the wire between the frame and the bed, and then out to the seven pole connector that's located in the bumper. We're going to temporarily disconnect the seven pole from the bumper. We'll open up the lid, we'll push down on the tab and twist it. Then we'll remove it from the bumper. Then we'll go ahead and disconnect the wire harness from that seven pole connector. We'll remove the little grey lock and then pull it apart. There's a small tab that we have to push down to release it. We'll push the wire harness back in underneath the bed of the truck. Then we'll take our new wire harness and plug it into the matching end. Once again we'll go ahead and we'll have to remove the grade lock and then reinstall it when we're done. Then the other half of the connector will go back into the seven pole. We'll reinstall the seven pole connector back to the bumper then hook the wire harness back up to it. All our wiring connections are made. I'll use some of the extra zip ties and we'll secure the wire out of our way. With that, that will finish it for our install of part number PK11893-11932 on our 2013 Chevrolet Silverado.
