How to Install the CIPA Clip-on Towing Mirror on a 2012 Toyota 4Runner

Today on our 2012 Toyota 4Runner, we're going to be a test fit on the CIPA Clip-On Towing Mirror, part number 7070. It offers us a wide field of view. It's going to allow us to safely and easily change lanes, pass, park, or even back up while towing a trailer or camper. As you can see, I'm visible in the towing mirror, but not the factory mirror. Now if I take a few steps in towards my trailers, you can see there's no blind spot by the way we have it set up, but this is the view you get with just your factory mirror. The mirror itself can be rotated 360 degrees. If you'd like to keep it in that horizontal position for a different view, you have that option. It can also be adjusted to most angles.

Got 'er up and down, diagonal, and side to side. Each one of our four tabs here is not going to interfere with the operation or movement of our factory mirror. We can even still fold it in. A few great things about this towing mirror are is that for one, it's for temporary use. You can take it off when you're not towing. Another great reason is it's universal. If you have any other trucks or SUVs in the family, it may fit those as well. Now this towing mirror does come in a quantity of one.

If you'd like to pick one up for the passenger side, just use the same part number. Now I'll show you how easy it is to get installed. I'm here on the driver's side of my Toyota 4Runner. To begin our test fit, we can go ahead and set our mirror in place. We need to make sure that the tabs here, with the lip on it, clips on the inside of the housing. I'm just going to center it up with my mirror. I'll hold it in place.

Come around to the backside and run my straps. Now when we run our straps, we're going to make sure that there's a little bit of tension on them already. That way when we clip it in place, it holds the mirror in place. I'd say it looks pretty good. Just going to stretch it up over the top, and clip it onto that top hook. We can adjust our strap how we want after we've got it hooked. Now we can just repeat the same process with our second strap.

Now if we want to tighten it or loosen it, we can guide the strap up through, and just pull it down from the other side. Pretty simple. Let's go ahead and hook it on top. Going to adjust our mirror how we want. We're ready to tow. It's that easy. That's going to complete our test fit on the CIPA Clip-on Towing Mirror, part number 7070 on our 2012 Toyota 4Runner.
