Review of the Channel Style Adjustable Ballmount

Speaker 1: Today we're going to be taking a look at the Curt Channel Style Adjustable Ball Mount, part number C45900. This adjustable ball mount will allow us to use a variety of trailers and haul them safely. The ball mount is adjustable in 1" increments and then the drop position allows for 6" of drop. Now if we flip it over in the rise position, you'll 5-1/4" of lift. Included you get the 2" ball and a 2-5/16" hitch. The 2" ball is going to have a 10,000 pound weight capacity.

The 2-5/16" ball is going to have a 14,000 pound weight capacity. And both will have a 1,400 pound tongue weight. Make sure not to exceed your truck or hitch's load rating. The distance from the furthest hole to the center of the ball is going to be 11-1/4". The distance from the inner hole to the center of the ball is going to be 10-1/4". What's nice about this kit is that is comes with the pin and clip to install your adjustable ball mount to your receiver.

Unlike most adjustable ball mounts, this one comes with an anti-rattle that can be installed in various positions to wherever your ball is. This will help dampen some of the noise from your ball when it's installed. It is a black powder coat finish that will prevent rust and corrosion. When comparing the Curt to the Maxxtow, part number MT70380, the Curt is going to have higher towing capacity and it comes with an anti-rattle, while the Maxxtow will have higher rise and drop adjustability. When comparing it to the Andersen, part number AM3298, the Curt's going to have the same total weight and it comes with an anti-rattle. The power with the Andersen's going to have slightly higher tongue weight and adjustability in both the drop and rise positions.Sold separately is the Curt Lock Set for your adjustable ball mount.

This will include two locking pins. One, which is already installed here and the other one for your ball, which is part number C23556. This will keep your load, ball and adjustable mount safe from theft. Out of the box you're going to get the drop mount, your ball, which includes 2" and 2-5/16", two pins to secure it to the drop and one to secure it to your receiver. And also an anti-rattle plug. You're going to want to install this in either the rise or drop position, depending on your application.

With our trailer here, we're going to be installing it in the drop position. For you to determine the orientation you want to install it in, you'll want to make sure your trailer is level. And then take a measurement from the ground to the bottom of the coupler. We'll go ahead and install it now. Keep in mind there are two positions about an inch apart they only need to be used appropriately for your application. Using the measurement taken on your trailer, make sure that it lines up with your ball platform. In ours, we're going to be installing it on the lowest positions. You'll take your anti-rattle plug and install behind the ball there. Now when you install it, make sure that you've chosen the appropriate ball. Here we'll be using 2". Double check your measurement here and you'll want to be within an inch to compensate for loads in your trailer in vehicle. Now we'll hook up our trailer. Hook up our chains. Plug in. And with everything loaded up, we're ready to go. That completes our look of the Curt Channel Style Adjustable Ball Mount, part number C45900.
