Review of the Curt Hitch Cargo Carrier on a 2015 Chevrolet Colorado

Today, on our 2015 Chevrolet Colorado, we're doing a test fit of the Curt 20 x 48 Cargo Carrier. That part number is C18110. This has a weight capacity of 300 pounds and works with both 1 1/4 and 2 inch hitches. The first thing we're going to do here is take a few measurements. We're going to start off with our ground clearance. The bottom of this bolt here, we're going to have about 19 3/4 inches. That is because we have that raised shank in the back which is going to lift our carrier even higher than our hitch.

Overall, to our truck we're adding about 28 3/4 inches. Then we'll check our tailgate break-over and overhang here. As you can see, it's going to cover up a majority of the carrier. It's going to cover up about 9 inches there and take off about 8 1/2 inches, so just keep that in mind whenever you're loading up your gear. You may want to remove it before you get anything out of your truck bed. As for our exhaust, we have a single passenger side exhaust here.

It comes straight out to the side here, so we don't have to worry about carrying heat sensitive materials in a specific region. As for our hitch and how this is secured down, we have an anti-rattle bolt here that's going to hold that in place, so it's going to keep a lot of the shake and play out of the rack as you head down the road.
