Review of the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver Adapter

So, you have a two inch hitch but you have a inch and a quarter accessory for that hitch. Well, etrailer designed a couple of different reducers to reduce your two inch down to an inch and a quarter. So, you can use those accessories. The one we're looking at today is the one in the middle. It's not the longest and it's not the shortest one, but it's gonna give us about four and 3/8 of extension, along with reducing. So, that's the measurement from the center of this hole to the center of the other pinhole.

And then from the shank side, this is gonna be from the center to the edge, two and a half inches. This one right here is gonna be two inches from the face to the center of our hitch pin hole. Goes in like any other accessory, just insert it in. And it does not come with a pin and clip. You do want to get one that is 5/8 in diameter, just because there's not much play there at all.

It's nice and snug. And then we could put our pin in there, like this. It is a hollow shank accessory. So, we could take care of this rattling by getting an inserted anti-rattle device. But the one I really like to use is this one.

It can be used with all your different accessories whether it's a hollow or a solid shank, and you just put the U-bolt underneath like that. We're gonna have some washers that go on top. Then we're gonna have some lock washers that go on top of those washers and then a nut for each side. Then once you get that on there you'll take a 3/4 inch socket and tighten this up. I like to go back and forth to make sure that they're as even as possible.

And once we get it there, we should take all that out. I just don't like listening to it. Whenever my windows are down. When it's nice out like today and also your accessories aren't going to feel it either. So, that is now one with our hitch receiver. So now, any of our inch and a quarter accessories we can put in there and we're good to go, but not all of our accessories. If you are wanting to use your inch and a quarter ball mount to haul something, this is not rated for any type of towing. So, we don't wanna do anything like that. But the capacity of this is gonna be 350 pounds tongue weight, 3,500 pounds gross trailer weight. That's just the extender, though. So, check out your hitch receiver on your vehicle. See what the rating is of that, and then divide it in half. This isn't just for the etrailer branded extenders and reducers, it's for all of them across the board. So, you do want to take that rating and cut it in half and make sure you're not overloading it. You don't have to get a new accessory to fit your new size hitch and you don't need to swap out your hitches just to use your one accessory you had before. Problem solved with the etrailer hitch reducer..
