Review of the etrailer Trailer Hitch Reducer And Extender

It's always nice to be able to use your accessories for a two inch hitch on your 2 1/2 inch hitch. So what we have right here is an adapter, so it's gonna go in your 2 1/2 inch hitch and convert it to a two inch, so you can use those accessories, but this isn't just an adapter, it's also an extender. So to go over a couple different measurements here, the overall length of it is gonna be 12 inches, the distance between these two holes is gonna be seven inches, and then from each hole to the end is gonna be 2 1/2 and 2 1/2. So with any type of extension, we are going to cut the capacity of our hitch in half. Even though this hitch is rated for quite a lot of weight, we also have to take into consideration the weakest link of the whole entire setup, which in this case, on this truck, it's gonna be the extension, so it's gonna have a max tongue weight of 350 pounds. This isn't something that you're gonna wanna haul with, just because 350 pounds of tongue weight isn't a whole lot, but I guess if you did have a Malone lightweight aluminum trailer for your kayak or something, if the weights all line up, you can use it for something like that, but I really don't think that's exactly what this is for.

A situation that I thought of, let's just say we're going on a long trip and you have a lot of people and this truck is the dedicated truck to bring all the bikes, so you can put a bike rack in here, have four back here, and with that extra seven inches that we get away from our tailgate, you can potentially get a tailgate pad with a bunch of different bikes on there. So that's one of the examples, but I'm sure there's a lot of others that you have ran into. If you are planning on hauling and you need to reduce your 2 1/2 to a two inch, I suggest going with this sleeve. Notice how it has only one hole right there, this is only gonna be a sleeve, so it's not gonna extend anything, so we're not gonna cut our capacity of our hitch in half at all. So if you're trying to haul, we have another one for you on our site that won't cut that capacity in half.

So if you need to reduce your 2 1/2 to a two inch hitch receiver and you also need to extend it, etrailer's got you covered with our extender and reducer..
