Review of the Hollywood Racks Hitch Bike Racks on a 2019 Chevrolet Equinox

Today on our 2019 Chevrolet Equinox we're gonna be taking a look at the Hollywood trail rider two bike platform rack. We have the bike and the rack set up on our Chevy here to give you a nice idea of how it would look. First thing I do want to point out is with our rack installed with or without a bike, we do lose our hatch access. But there is a solution to that. And I'll get to it here in a moment.First thing I want to point out is how our bike is secured. This rubberized locking frame hook puts downward pressure on the frame, forcing our wheels into the cradles.

This rubber coating will help prevent any scratches to our bike's finish. Here's the cradles that the wheels are forced into. They are adjustable to accommodate the length of your bike. And for some extra security, each wheel has its own strap. Now, there is a unique way to load and unload this bike. It makes it a lot easier than some of the other models on the market.

The first thing we would do to unload it, let's undo our wheel straps. While we're down here, go ahead and pull this pin out of the center mass. Go ahead and get a good grip on your bike. That way when we loosen our frame hook here, it doesn't fall over. Now that we have the frame hook undone, the center mass actually folds down.

It makes it really easy to load and unload. Some of the other models you actually have to kind of fish the bike from a little area here inside the rack and the vehicle and it makes it kind of tricky. So now with our center mass down, you can see there's plenty of space to get inside of our hatch here. We'll fold this back up. Now the rack does fold up on itself like a suitcase to save a little bit of space. Make it a little smaller if we need to store it or travel down the road, go for a little cleaner look.

But before I show you how to do that, I will give you some measurements. With our rack installed on our Equinox. The rear will extend roughly two foot. So 24 inches. As far as the ground clearance goes. From the further point of our rack here. It's about 16 inches. So it's high enough. You shouldn't have to worry about any clearance issues when going over curbs or backing out of driveways or anything like that. Now if you do want to fold it up like I said to save some space or store it, it's really easy. Go ahead and remove this pin. And this simply folds up . and the pin reinserts. We'll do the same thing on the other side. And I kind of like to pull my frame hooks down. So you can see it really saves a lot of space. The last thing I do want to point out is our connection point here. This is an inch and a quarter shank. But it does come included with a two inch adaptor sleeve. So that gives us a couple options. We can use it with a couple different inaudible 00:04:01. Also included is a locking anti-rattle bolt. What that does is takes all the play out of our connection point here. So that way it'll keep our rack nice and sturdy. This is the lock that's included as well. So what this does, it'll help prevent or deter any theft from the rack itself. And this key also matches our frame hook locks. So we can use this lock to lock our bike to the rack and use this lock to lock our rack to the car.Well, with all that being said, that will complete our look at our Hollywood two bike platform rack on our 2019 Chevrolet Equinox.
