Review of the Kuat Hitch Bike Racks on a 2015 Chevrolet Cruze

Today on our 2015 Chevrolet Cruze we're doing a test fit of the Kuat Transfer platform-style 2-bike rack. That part number is TS02G. Now we already have our bike secured down. We're first going to show you one of the key features of this rack. We're going to move our hook out of the way. We can either use our foot or our hand.

We're going to push down that lever there. We can tilt our bike rack away. Now in this position we are going to gain full access into our trunk. Though we can possibly gain it while we have, or at least most of our access, while we have our bike up in the regular position, this is just going to give us a little bit more room to be able to get out larger items as well. Not going to have to worry about that making contact at all or having to take our bike rack or our bikes off of our vehicle.

We can lift straight up and that's going to lock back into place. As for how our bike is secured down, here at the back we have a cam buckle strap. We're just going to push on the cam and pull that strap through. At the front we have a wheel hook. This sits either in front of our brakes or in front of our frame depending on how our bike is made. Push on the button to release it, pull straight down to ratchet that down.

We can take our bike off and set it off to the side here. We'll take a few measurements. First is going to be overall what we're adding to our vehicle. That's going to be about 31". Ground clearance is going to be about 16-1/4".

Our closest point is going to be about 2" away. Now we also have the option to fold our bike rack up against our vehicle, again using that same lever. But instead we'll lift up until that locks into place. This is going to be great for close quarters situations like parking because we're only adding about 8-3/4" to our vehicle. As for our hitch, this is designed to work with both 1-1/4" and 2" hitches. We have an anti-rattle bolt and clip back here. With that anti-rattle bolt completely tightened down, it's going to keep a lot of shake and play out of the bike rack as you head down the road. That's going to be our completed look at the Kuat Transfer platform-style 2-bike rack, part number TS02G, on our 2015 Chevrolet Cruz.Speaker 2: Here on our test course we'll start by going through the slalom. This is going to show us the side to side action. This simulates turning corners or evasively maneuvering. Once we get to the alternating speed bumps, we'll see the twisting action. This will simulate hitting a curb or a pothole, or driving over uneven pavement. Once we get to the full speed bumps, we'll see the up and down action. This will be just like driving in and out of a parking lot, parking garage, or driveway.
