Review and How to Install the Optronics LED RV Exterior Scene Light

Hello everyone, Andy here with etrailer.com. And today we're going to take a look at the Optronics LED Exterior Scene Light. Couple of things that are nice about this light are going to be the fact that it angles down at a 45 degree angle with the LEDs. That way it gives you a wide field of view to light up anything that is in front of you whenever you're trying to load your trailer that way you're not tripping or stepping over anything. Also the size of it is going to be nice and big, but it's not too bulky. It's going to be a little about eight and three quarter inches wide and about three inches tall and it only sticks off the trailer about an inch and a half. So that's one thing that is nice with it being a little bit on the slimmer side.So when it comes to switching to an LED is going to be a great option that way you aren't spending money on bulbs or having to replace them and get up and down to replace those time and time again, it's going to be a great option to switch to this. Also, it's extremely bright at 1200 lumens.

It's really going to light everything up. As far as the installation, extremely easy. And let's take a look at that now.So now that we have our wires exposed here, what we're going to go ahead and do is just strip the ends of them, that way we can get our connectors secured nicely just like so. What I like to do is just to clean it up and make the installation connection a little better is to go ahead and twist the ends of the wires before we put our connectors on them.So what I'm going to do first is take my connector and I'm going to install it on the light. That way it's a little bit easier for me to get it mounted up and I don't have to worry about trying to finagle or dropping anything.

I like to give it just a little bit of a tug just to make sure that it's secured. Now we're good to go ahead and mount our light to the wires on the trailer. Now that we're up here, I'm going to go ahead and set this here and give it just a little platform to rest that way. I don't have to worry about dropping the light and I can get everything secured.I know that the white wire is our ground and the black is going to be our power. Now we can go ahead and get that crimped down.

So now that we have our ground set, we'll connect our power. And again, the same thing, give it a nice tug just to make sure that everything is secured. And then we can go ahead and get our light mounted to the trailer. So to aid with the waterproofing, I went ahead and used a heat shrink connector. I'm just going to give it a little bit of heat with a heat gun. Okay, so now we got everything secure.

I'm just going to go ahead and give it another little tug and make sure we're good. And now we can go ahead and get our hardware installed. So with this light, it does not come with hardware. So you'll want to use a self-tapping screw that you feel comfortable with. And let's go ahead and get this mounted up. So we're going to feed our wires back through just like so and then we can get the hole that is in the center of the light on the backside. So I'll let you have the hole on the backside of the light centered into the hole on your trailer. You can go ahead and start using your self-tapping screw. And we're secure on that side. Let's do the same to the other side.So now that we have our hardware secured and we know our connections are good, we went ahead and went in and turn the power on. It looks like we're good to go. So if you are looking for a little bit more of a finished look, we want to make it look a little cleaner. You can purchase as the Chrome bezel. There is also a black option and this we'll just go ahead and snap around our light and that looks a lot better. And that is going to do it for a look at the Optronics LED Exterior Scene Light.
