Review of the Rhino Rack Roof Rack on a 2016 Ford F-150

Today on this 2016 Ford F150 we're going to be test fitting the Rhino Rack Vortex Aero Roof Rack System. Consisting of part numbers RRVA150B-2, which are going to be the crossbars, and then the legs, part number RRRLKBA, and then the fit kit, part number DK427. As you can see we have the front one already installed, let's go ahead and show you have the rear one goes on. Once you get the kit, here's what you're pretty much going to get with it, with the exception of the roll tape here. You're going to get the two measuring strips, the legs, the foot pads, the hooks, and the covers that will actually lock up the legs once you have them installed. We have the left one installed, let's go head and move on to the other. I'll flip this around for you. Go head and take our leg here, line it up with the track, slide it in.

We'll go ahead and put our end cap on just to hold it in place. Then we'll flip it back around here. This is where you'd do the measurement on the inside and that's where these strips come into play. You would measure it out to wherever it needs to be, make your cut, and put it in and it would stay there. However, since this is just a test fit we'll go ahead and set that aside.

You're inside measurement here is going to be 16.6 cm. So go head and measure from the edge here, line it up, bring in our leg. Now we'll tighten down with the included tool here. All right. Next we'll go head and install our pad here, we want to make sure our arrow is going to be facing toward the front of the vehicle. Just push that in place.

Finally, we'll go ahead and install our clamp. We'll go ahead and unscrew this here. Put it through our clamp. Then just loosely install it for now. With that done, we'll go head over to the vehicle, open up our two back doors.

Then put our cross bar into place. You may want to get an extra set of hands to catch this on the other side while you put it on so you don't actually scratch up the roof of your vehicle. Just gently set it down then we'll get our measurements right. Now our crossbar measurement, which is going to be from the center of the bar to the center of the front bar is going to be about 80 cm. So we've got some space to move up. That measurements settled, we can go ahead and start loosely tightening down. Take our included tool with the blue handle. Just loosely tighten it against the door sill here. Repeat this on the other side. I'm going to go ahead and give about five good turns on each side until we can complete tighten it down. Looks like we're good on that side. Now how this blue handle tool works, it's curved at the one end now, but when it's completely tightened down, that curve will straighten out like it is now, as you can see. The last step is you can go ahead and install the covers there. And you're ready to go. There you have it for the Rhino Rack Roof Rack System on our 2016 Ford F150.
