Review of the Rightline Ace 1 Rooftop Cargo Bag

Today we're going to be taking a look at the Rightline Ace 1 Rooftop Cargo Bag, part RL100A10. The Rightline Cargo Bag is great for carrying a wide variety of accessories on your roof and keeping them nice and dry thanks to the weather resistant material. This is great for cars, crossovers, and wagons. The ways that this bag is weather resistant, we have a flap that actually has hook and loop straps on it to protect the zipper, that goes over like so. It also has welded seams to keep the moisture out. The material itself is a made from a 600-denier, woven polyester with PVC inner layer. It also resists UV rays to help prevent fading, and is rated at UPF 50. This can hold the 12 cubic feet of storage, comes with four straps to attach it to your vehicle, and it can attach it in several different ways, either on a naked roof as you see here.

It can also attach to a cargo basket or to a factory roof rack. The bag measures 38" long, by 34" wide, by 16" tall. When loading things into this bag just be sure you check your vehicle's manual as to how much weight you can put on your roof. Now that we've gone over some of the features of the cargo bag let's go ahead and show you how it installs. First off, we're going to open up our bag all the way, and then we'll set it onto our cargo basket. When installing this on our cargo basket you want to make sure that the open end is facing towards the rear with the name of the bag is facing towards the front.

Next we can load up our gear. Now that we have everything loaded up in our bag we're ready to actually tighten it down to our cargo basket, which means we'll have to use these straps with the hooks. Now since we have this in a cargo basket, we won't need the hooks for this application, so we'll simply remove those. So we'll wrap our first strap around our bar like so, loop it through, and pull it tight. Then we'll go up to the top of the bag. You need to decide at this point which set of buckles you'll use.

We'll use the ones off to the side, and we'll thread our strap through that, and then cinch it down. We'll repeat this for our three other attachment points. Our second way to mount this is if you have either factory raised side rails, or a factory roof rack. We're going to repeat the same process we did when we had the bag on the roof basket, except this time we'll wrap it around our factory raised side rails like so, and pull it through the loop that way. Put it through, and tighten it up, and take care of the excess. Now our third and final way to put this onto your roof, we're going to use the naked roof here of a vehicle.

We're going to have to clean off the top of it before we set it on the roof. Unlike the previous ways of attaching this to your vehicle, instead of starting with our loops, we're actually going to start up at the top. However, before we do that, we're going to reattach our hooks that we took off earlier. Again, using our side buckle here, put it through like so, then we'll open up our car door and attach our hook to the weather seal inside. Close our door, tie off our excess, then we'll repeat this process for our three other straps. There you have it for the Rightline Ace 1 Rooftop Cargo Bag, part number RL100A10.
