Review of the RoadMaster Blackhawk 2 All Terrain Tow Bar

Today, we're going to be taking a look at the Roadmaster Blackhawk II All-Terrain Nonbinding Tow Bar. There are five main components. For a flat tow setup, you have your base plate, you have your diode wiring kit, you have your braking system, your tow bar, and your safety cables. This tow bar is going to have a 10,000 pound weight capacity, and it's going to be a nonbinding tow bar, which gives you the ability to disconnect your vehicle on unlevel ground. We're going to have three pivot points. You're going to have one for both arms, allows your arms to work independently, side to side.

You're going to have two, which allows it to go up and down; three, which allows this to rotate side to side, so allows your tow bar to rotate side to side for driving on unlevel ground.The nice thing about this tow bar is it allows us to store it on the back of the camper. This spring loaded tab is what locks it in place in the storage position. Each arm will lock into place, and to disconnect for to unlock the arm, simply pull the lever, inaudible 00:01:07 the arm in. And another nice thing about this tow bar, that's going to set it apart from others, it's going to have channels on each arm for your safety cables, and for your wiring. This tow bar can be used with Roadmaster base plates and can be used with other base plates, but may require an additional adapter.One thing that I do want to stress is when you're hooking up your tow bar to your vehicle, you want to make sure that that angle is as straight as possible. What you're going to do is measure from the ground to the center of your receiver tube on your hitch on your RV, and the center from the ground to the center of your base plate, where your tow bar attaches. If that number's within three inches, you're good. If it's more than three inches, you may need to get a rise or a drop.
