Review of the RockyMounts Hitch Bike Racks on a 2018 Ford F-150

Speaker 1: Today on our 2018 Ram 1500, we're doing a test-fit of the RockyMounts BackStage Platform-Style 2-Bike Rack, part number: RKY10002.Now, we already have our bike secured down, we're first going to show you one of the key features of this rack. Now, one thing to note, you'll see where our handle is down here, we want to make sure that it's turned to the side so that we can tilt our bike rack away from our vehicle all the way. To tilt it, we're going to pull out on our blue handle here at the back. We'll be able to tilt that down, away from our vehicle. I like to move my pedal so that it's up higher, but you'll see that we're not going to be able to gain full access into our back truck-bed area in this position. That is okay though because we do have another position, which will allow us to gain full access. To do that, we'll start by lifting up until our bike rack locks into place, and we can loosen up our handle all the way. We're going to loosen this up completely, but it will not come out of our hitch.

Once it's loose, we can come to the side and we'll pull out on this pin here, that's going to allow us to pull our bike rack away from our vehicle. When it's about halfway, we're going to rotate the platform and we'll continue to rotate it out after it clicks.Everything's going to click into place and hold our bike rack away from our tailgate. This is going to allow us to gain that access into our truck bed. This way we can get anything in or out that we may need without having to take our bikes off of our bike rack, or our bike rack off of our vehicle. Then to put our bike rack back into place, we'll simply reverse the process. One great thing about this rack is that we do have that tilt-away option, as well as the fold-away option.

This bike rack is going to be great whenever we're trying to carry many different types of gear, some on our . in our truck bed and some on our hitch. It'll free up more space in your bed to carry more gear.To put everything back into place, we'll tighten everything down at our knob and make sure that our bolts have clicked into place. Now, how our bike is secured down, at the back, we're going to have a cam-buckle strap. We're just going to push on the blue cam and pull that through. At the front, we're going to have a wheel hook, this will sit either in front of our brakes or in front of our frame depending on how our bike is made.

Pull up to release it. Pull down to tighten that down. Once all that's out of the way, we can take our bike off and set it off to the side.We do have the option to fold up part of our rack. We're going to fold our front cradle and fold our hook down. The great thing about our cradles is that these are going to accommodate fat tire bikes up to five inches. Now, we'll give you an idea of how our bike rack works with our vehicle by taking a few measurements.

We're going to have about 33 inches added to our vehicle. Our ground clearance here at the back is going to be about 15-and-a-half inches. Our closest point is going to measure about six-and-a-half inches away.We have one more position we can actually put our rack into. We're going to pull on our blue lever at the bottom and lift up until it locks into place. Now, we're only adding about 15-and-a-half inches to our vehicle. Our closest point looks to be at our cradles, sitting about two-and-a-half inches away. Now, as for our hitch, it's designed to work with only two-inch hitches. It is going to have locks on our hitch as well as up here at top where we're going to secure our cable lock. This is also going to prevent theft and tampering of the platform portion of our rack.At the bottom, we also have our anti-rattle device. With everything tightened down and the locks in place, it's going to prevent any theft or tampering as well as keep a lot of shake and play out of our bike rack as we head down the road. That's going to be our completed look at the RockyMounts BackStage Platform-Style 2-Bike Rack, part number: RKY10002, on our 2018 Ford F150.
