Review of the Stallion Roof Mounted Aluminum Cargo Basket

Today, we're going to be taking a look at the roof mounted aluminum cargo basket, part number 288-09200. This economically priced roof cargo basket is great for getting your gear out of your vehicle and on your roof, freeing up more space for passengers and pets. You can use it to store wet, dirty or oversized gear keeping the interior of your vehicle clean and uncluttered. Because it's constructed out of aluminum, it's rust and corrosion resistant. The black powder coat finish gives it a stylish look. Its overall dimensions are 50 inches long, 39 inches wide and seven inches deep. It has a weight capacity of 150 pounds, although you'll want to be sure and check with your vehicle's owner's manual to see if your roof can carry that much.

It features plenty of tie down points surrounding the carrier, so it's going to work with a wide variety of straps. It's going to attach to your round, square, arrow, elliptical and most factory roof rack systems. It's a very easy installation. I'll go ahead and show you that now. To get it installed, we need to be sure we have a crossbar spread between 17 and 3/4 and 24 and 3/4. Now because it's made out of aluminum, you should have no problem loading it up on your own.

I'm just going to center it up. Now let's go ahead and install our hardware. We're going to need the bracket top plate, the U bolt, the spacer block and our two knobs. First thing we want to do is install our spacer block. I'm going to install it right here, it's going to go underneath and sit down like so. Then I'll take my top bracket.

I'm going to set it on top, it's going to line up with the two square openings on top. Then I'll take the U bolt, I'll go underneath and get that lined up with the openings on the top bracket. Then I'll just take the knobs, get those started and then I'll tighten them down evenly. With everything all done, you can see, got it nice and tight. It's not going anywhere. Now, let's go ahead and load up some cargo.

Customers on our site are comparing this to the roller roof mounted cargo basket. They're both medium capacity baskets. This one's constructed out of aluminum, making it more lightweight than the steel constructed roller. It also has a higher weight capacity than the roller. The roller is slightly larger in size. The roller does feature a faring 00:02:31 to reduce wind noise and drag. However, the aluminum basket is more economically priced. That's going to complete our look at the roof mounted aluminum cargo basket, part number 288-09200.

My cross bar spread fixed on my Honda Element you sold me the posts and aero bars, is 29-1/2”. The video gave the impression to me that this would no work , am I correct in what I heard?

This basket does require a crossbar spread from 17-3/4 to 24-3/4. If your crossbar spread does not accommodate this measurement then this roof cargo basket would not work for you. The Reese # RP1391300 cargo basket accommodates a crossbar spread from 25 to 32 inches and that might work for you.
