Review of the Swagman Hitch Bike Racks on a 2013 Chevrolet Equinox

Today on our 2013 Chevrolet Equinox, we're doing a test fit of the Swagman XC2 platform style two-bike rack. That part number S64650. Now we already have our bike secured down. We're first going to show you how we secure it in place. We have two cradles, one at the front and one at the bike tire then we have our frame hook which is going to hold our bike down into our cradles. To release those, we're just going to push in on the gray lever there and lift straight up.

Then we can take our bike off and set it off to the side. Now, one great thing about those hooks is that they are padded to help prevent scratches or abrasions from our bike rack onto our bike. Now, we'll take a few measurements here. First is going to be overall what we're adding to our vehicle. That's going to be about 19 1/2 inches. Ground clearance is going to be about 15 3/4 inches.

Our closest point is going to be about six inches away. Now we have a few different positions we can put our rack into. The first one we're going to show you is going to allow us to gain access into our back hatch. We're going to start by removing our pin in the center. We'll lay our mast down to one side and now we're going to gain full access into our back hatch.

Lucky the bike rack is close enough to our vehicle we can easily reach over and grab out larger items and get anything we need. We can close that up. We're going to put our center mast back into place. We insert our pin and then we'll do the same to the other arms. We're going to pull out that pin. You may have to move your frame hooks up just a bit so we can close this all the way up and line up our holes.

Same thing to the other side. This is going to be great storage position for anytime you want to take your bike rack off of your vehicle and maybe store it inside your garage or if you want to take it off and put it inside your vehicle. As for our hitch, this is designed to work with both 1 1/4-inch and two-inch hitches. We also have an anti-rattle bolt and clip down here. That anti-rattle bolt when fully tightened down is going to keep a lot of shake and play out of the bike rack as you head down the road. That's going to be our completed look at the Swagman XC2 platform style two-bike rack, part number S64650 on our 2013 Chevrolet Equinox.Speaker 2: Here it is on our test course. We'll start by going through the slalom. This is going to show us the side to side action which simulates turning corners or evasive maneuvers. Next, we're at the alternating speed bumps which we'll see the twisting action. This will simulate hitting a curb or pothole or driving over uneven pavement. Finally, we have the full speed bumps where we'll see the up and down action which is just like driving out of a parking lot, garage or driveway.
