Review of the Swagman Hitch Bike Racks on a 2015 Chevrolet Traverse

Speaker 1: Today on our 2015 Chevrolet Traverse we're doing a test fit of the Swagman Chinook platform style two bike rack. That part number is S64683.Now we already have our bike secured down. We're first going to show you one of the key features of this rack. We're going to come here behind where we mount of both of our bikes and we're going to pull up on our lever. When we pull up on that, we can tilt our bike rack away from our vehicle with our bikes loaded, and we're going to gain full access to our back hatch area to get anything in or out that we may need. What's great about this is that we don't have to worry about removing our bikes or our bike rack just to gain this access.

When we're done we can close that up, and we can lift straight up on our rack until that clicks into place. Now at the front and rear tire we have cam buckle straps. We're just going to push on the top portion of our cam and pull that strap through to release it. Same thing here at the back. Then in the center we're going to have a frame hook. This is going to hold our bike down into our wheel cradles.

It ratchets on top to give us a nice secure fit and it does have the option to lock. We'll push on the button and lift up to release that. Then we can take our bike off and set it off to the side. The great thing about our mass is that it does fold down to one side for more visibility out of your rear view mirror, or rear window rather. Now we're going to take a few measurements. First is going to be overall what we're adding to our vehicle.

That's going to be about 23.5 inches. Our ground clearance is going to be about 16.25 inches, and our closest point is about 7 inches away. Now we do have the option to fold this up against our vehicle. With it folded up against, we're only adding about 13 inches, which is great for close quarter situations. Our closest point is going to be here in the center at about an inch away. Now as for our hitch, this is designed to work with both 1.25 inch and 2 inch hitches.

We have an anti-rattle bolt and lock down there holding it into place. That lock is going to prevent theft and tampering, and the anti-rattle bolt when completely tightened down is going to keep a lot of shake and play out of our bike rack as we head down the road. That's going to be our completed look at the Swagman Chinook platform style two bike rack, part number S64683, on our 2015 Chevrolet Traverse. Speaker 2: Here it is on our test course. We'll start by going through the slalom. This is going to show us the side to side action, which simulates turning corners or evasive maneuvers. Next we're at the alternating speed bumps, which we'll see the twisting action. This will simulate hitting a curb or pothole, or driving over uneven pavement. Finally we have the full speed bumps where we'll see the up and down action, which is just like driving out of a parking lot, garage, or driveway.
