Review of the Swagman Hitch Bike Racks on a 2018 Ford F-150

Speaker 1: Today on our 2018 Ford F-150 we're doing a test fit of the Swagman Chinook platform-style 2-bike rack. That part number is S64683. Now we already have our bike secured down. We're first going to show you one of the key features of this rack. We're going to come here to the back and we're going to lift up on our tab. That's going to allow us to tilt our bike rack away from our vehicle.

We'll check our tailgate clearance here. Move our pedal down. You'll see we're not going to gain full access. We would make contact with our bike on our rack. We can have somebody hold our tailgate and we can get out smaller items.

We'll lift up until our bike rack locks into place. Now how our bike is secured down, at the front and rear tires we're going to have cam buckle straps. We'll just push at the top on our cam and pull our strap through. Same thing. Then here in the center we're going to have a frame hook. This is going to hold our bike down into our wheel cradles.

This does have the option to lock to prevent theft and tampering. We'll just push on the button and pull up to release it, and pull straight down to ratchet it down. With that loose we can take our bike off and we'll set it off to the side.A great feature of this rack is that we can fold our mast down. We're going to have a lever here on the side. We'll just pull up on that and fold our mast down until it clicks.

Now we'll take a few measurements just to give you an idea of how our bike rack works with our vehicle. First measurement is going to be overall. We're adding about 24-1/2" to our vehicle. Our ground clearance is going to be about 22". Our closest point is about 19-1/4" away. Now we have another position we can put our rack into, pulling on our tab once again, folding our bike rack up against our vehicle. Now we're only adding about 15". Ground clearance is going to be about 16-1/2". Our closest point is about 4" away.As for our hitch, this is designed to work with both 1-1/4" and 2" hitches. We have an anti-rattle bolt and lock down there. The lock's going to help to prevent theft and tampering. The anti-rattle bolt, when it's completely tightened down, is going to keep a lot of shake and play out of our bike rack as we head down the road, so we should have an overall smooth ride. That's going to be our completed look at the Swagman Chinook platform-style 2-bike rack, part number S64683, on our 2018 Ford F-150. Speaker 2: Here it is on our test course. We'll start by going through the slalom. This is going to show us the side to side action, which simulates turning corners or evasive maneuvers. Next we're at the alternating speed bumps, which we'll see the twisting action. This will simulate hitting a curb or pothole or driving over uneven pavement. Finally, we have the full speed bumps, where we'll see the up and down action, which is just like driving out of a parking lot, garage, or driveway.
